I have to replace the interior in the car. I have no mechanical
knowledge but want to take out the seats myself and install the new
carpet I bought. Is this difficult?

I am very limited in the way of tools - a few screwdrivers, hammers,
wrenches but I hardly know how to use them. The seats are a bench in
the back and two buckets in the front. The seat belts are ancient and
sort of frozen (you cannot lengthen them or shorten them as they are
frozen around the belthead) but they look the age of the car and I
like them so they stay.

Actually its pretty easy to do, First you have to remove the center console
if you have one. Then from under the car you will see 4 plugs under the seat
on both sides. Pull the plugs out and you will find a nut to loosen, Loosen
all these nuts and the seats should come right out. After that go to the
back seat and just lift on the front of it, It should just pop right out
with a tug. Then the last thing you need to do is take out the the plates on
the rockers which come out pretty easy after taking the screws out. Maybe on
your car you have to take the kick panels out, Im not sure on mine they have
the speakers in them, So im not sure how they come out on your car. After
all that the carpet should pretty much pull right out. After the carpet is
out its not a bad idea to see how the floor boards look. Its common for the
mustang to leak from the cowl onto the floor (which might make the floor
rust) Id suggest buying some POR15 and painting the floor boards just for
cheap insurance, this stuff is great nothing gets past it. Hope this helps.
