I have a '90 ragtop. Wind noise is starting to become a problem, but
I don't want to trade up to a newer model. What can I do? I'e heard
about buying new rubber moldings. Is that the answer? Is there
anything else to do?
Thanks in advance.
Ditto on my '88 ragtop. If you don't like wind noise in a convertible,
I suspect you'd have to get a BMW or Mercedes. I've driven a plethura
of convertibles, foriegn and domestic, and that vinyl/cloth top does
not effectively eliminate the sound of the wind rushing over top of it
as a regular, steel roof. I just figured it was something I'd have to
live with. It's a small price to pay when the sun is out and the top
is down. Plus, my Flowmasters are far louder than the wind noise, and
I just put in a bigger stereo so I could hear over them. What's that?
Am I going deaf? Probably. But you only live once, you may as well
have fun.

I don't know what can be done to eliminate it, but I don't have much wind
noise at all in my '94. The new top is lined and is quiet at highway
speeds. Once inside my car, many people forget it is a convertible!

Mine doesn't have a headliner - I suspect that's a big part of it.
Also, the aftermarket tops, while less expensive, are made of thinner
material (I had my white top replaced w/ a black one). Mine never had
a headliner, but I've seen 'em in Classic Corral's catalog for $150 or
so. Might be worth it if I drove the car more, but I can live with it
for now.
