I'm pretty sure that I'm going to sell my car and get a Mustang GT, but I
thought I might light to rent one for a day if anyone does indeed rent them.
Anyone ever heard of one? Thanks.

Couple of Ford dealers in the area (Frontier Ford in Santa Clara) and Fremont
Ford (in Fremont) have somewhat captive car rental offices and at least the
Fremont Ford dealer's rental office rents GTs. I almost rented one a while back
but ended up waiting for my car.

Of course, if you don't live in hte San Jose CA area, you'll have to check
dealers in your area.

Sincerely,

MarcW.

Alot of dealers will (should) let you test drive a GT for a few days. The only
side effect is that you will probably get a hard sell if you ask for that...but
it would be worth it.

are you sure that they let you take it for a few days

i know that they got a thing where you're actually committing to
buying the car but they've not finished doing the financing for you
yet

so they let you take the car right away while they're working on it

im not sure

Dealers have let my parents take a car home overnight on many occations when
they were either very interested in the car, or there wasn't enough time for
them to test drive the car before the dealership closed. I don't know about
more than one day though.

I rented a new GT onvertable one when I was out in California two years
ago. I rented it from a small place that worked out of the front of one
of the hotels across from Disneyland.

4.6 rag top, slush box, lots of options. Nice car. Fast enough to get
into trouble. I liked it.

Lord, not to mention the gas you'd pay for with it!!!!! Don't those
things get a stupendous 8mpg or something awful like that? You'd be
filling up the tank at every street corner! I remember going to their
website and checking out the different models.. and they don't even
list the gas mileage for most of their cars... Gas milage : N/A

What's that all about? ;)

Wouldn't mind renting a Prowler..

The part that probably hurts the most that's not listed...

The deposit!

"Yes, the rate is $1350/day and we require a $100,000 deposit, the deed to
your house, or your first born until the car is returned in the same
condition. Have fun!"

Somehow I doubt they let you get away with a $200 draft on your credit
card. ;)

Ouch.. that's right. Heck, even a video store requires a $200 deposit
on most DVD players.. and those things are only about 400 new. Hehehe,
I could see it now... Two guys go in to rent a car, and are all
excited. Then it comes, "Okay, that'll be $1400. Oh, and we require
$100,000 on that model. Will that be cash, charge, credit, or
children?"

<insert your own mental picture of two guy's mouths hanging open>

Yup. Heh.

Like if you could even THINK about spending $1350 for a days car rental
you'd probably not even blink at the extra C note in gasoline you might
drop on a days drive.

Hellllloooooo? McFLYYYYYYYYY?!!!!!!!!!!!!

I THINK about spending that kind of money on a daily basis, thanks.
And it's obvious you'd drop more than a single "C note" on gasoline
driving that thing around for a day. A 28 gallon tank at *maybe* 8 mpg
and you're looking at 180 miles. 2 hours of cruising at 60mph yields
120 miles. And if I'm going to pay $1400 to rent a car (for a day),
then I'm sure as hell not going to cruise for only 2 hours, and I'm
sure as hell not going to cruise at 60mph. Not to mention all the
burnouts, gear droppings, etc. And, 8mpg is probably high for the
Diablo.

And I'm *not* a chicken!

But, you're right. Most people who would do something like that don't
worry about a little extra for gas. My *point* was that $1400 is not
*only* what you'd pay for it. As was mentioned, there's a deposit, and
I'm sure they make you pay for the miles you drive it as well.
