Every few weeks the front seat belts in my 2000 V-6 get twisted to the point
where they don't retract properly, and sometimes if I don't keep an eye on it to
the point where you can't pull the buckle to the clip. The problem is that it
seems like you have to twist it to get the buckle to face the right direction to
go into the clip. What am I missing?

This can be fixed without any tools.
Fold the belt on itself to form a triangle with its point toward the sliding
tang. Work the slot of the tang onto the point of the folded belt and then
through the fold. Once you've done this the tang will be facing the other
side of the belt. It's hard to visualize but play around with it and you'll
get it to work. I do this on all my cars so when the belts hang the tangs
face the buckles.

Believe it or not, during normal use the tangs can reverse themselves (not
often). So don't be surprised that sometime down the road you'll have to
do this procedure again.
