Any sites or first hand stories appreciated. I'm looking at mainly
things needed suspension wise, as well as wiring. Thanks

Suspension wise you will need; springs, shocks, struts, and possibly the
control arms.

Wiring you will need; the entire wiring harness, plus computer. If you have
the chance, get the instrument cluster as well. I believe the tachs and
speedo are calibrated differently (right?).

I would not get the motor mounts, instead, spend the bucks and get NEW
polyurethane motor mounts.

Someone can correct me on this, but I think you will need the radiator
also...the 4cylinder one won't handle it.

What year Mustang?

An older Fox chassis car will take a BB pretty easily as far has wiring
goes. A later EFI car will need a lot of wire chopping but most of the
redundant cables can be left.
There are kits for the 460 that have headers, and pans and a new oil
pickup. The car will need a complete suspension upgrade including the rear
axle.

Transmissions choices are pretty slim for the 460 so a C6 auto is the
usually the rigour.

You'll need a hood bulge or scoop to clear the distributor as it will stick
out past the hood. Bigger radiator and I've heard guys replacing the whole
fuel line for bigger as it will suck more gas. Frame connectors will help
stiffen the car too......shall I go on....HTH StuK

I was thinking along the lines of an '87-'93 style. I'd like to put
in a tubular k-member to free up some weight on the front end, as well
as a flaming river manual rack. It's going to be a weekend car, so
I'm not too concerned with comfort. I want the car to weigh about as
much as a stock 5.0.
I guess my greatest concerns are with wiring and any differences
between a 4cyl car and the 5.0 cars. For instance, wheel housing
space. I'd like to run 17" wheels with 275/40's out back. It's a
tight fit on a 5.0 car, and I don't know if the 4banger cars have the
same space.

Any info is appreciated, thanks.

The wheel wells and inner skirts will be the same on 4 and 8 cars.
'87 and up 5.0 cars had a different front suspension geometry than the 4
bangers ( which stayed the same as pre '87) that may have some bearing on
wheel fit. I presume the BB will be carbed, therefore so long as you provide
it ignition and fuel it will run regardless any abandoned EEC wiring. The
main wiring loom will still have the starter relay and ancillary wiring
common on both cars. Your best bet is to get a wiring book so that you can
make the main connections to the new engine. Sounds like you have a lot of
work before you get to wiring anyway! Good Luck! StuK

I have 265/50/`5's on my 88 4banger body and every once in a while they rub.
This is WITH my fender eges rolled under.

I agree with you Dave, yes you can put a square peg in a round hole if you
are willing to do the work, bang it in, turn the hole square or the peg
round, or you could just dig a square hole.

Might it be cheaper to buy a car made for the big block? Just wondering.
Or maybe you do want to be unique. If you are in California SMOG will come
in to play also.

Enjoy. Would you be able to keep us informed as you make progress?
