First off, although it won't actually boost your POWER, installing a
set of lower ratio gears (numerically higher,) will give you more torque
multiplication at the rear wheels. A set of 3.55:1 or 3.73:1 rear
differential gears will give you a very noticeable boost in acceleration.
That being said, lets look at the engine. the key to making more
horsepower is in making the engine breathe better. Small block Ford
engines are known for liking free flowing exhaust. Consider installing
a cat-back exhaust system, and free flowing headers (Ford's stock headers
are pretty restrictive.)
Also consider going with an aftermarket mass air meter and air filter.
Lastly, bump the bast timing up from 10 deg. BTDC to 13-15 deg.
(Beware of detonation though. If the engine knocks, back off the timing
until it stops, then back off another degree.)

It's today totally standard, i.e. 240 HP, and I would like to
boost it upto around 300 HP, if possible.
I would appreciate any suggestions in this matter.

To get to an honest 300HP you would have to use new heads, a charger, or
nitrous. Any of which would technically void your warranty (actually, ANY
modification of your engine/drivetrain is a violation of the warranty).
Check with other stang drivers in your area about the local Ford dealers.
Some of them are particularly forgiving of mods, especially if you use
Ford Motorsport products of course. It would be quite a stretch to pass
off a 300HP car as covered though.
If you just want to feel more power, replace your rear gears with a 3.55
or 3.73 first. It's cheap, effective, and most dealers could care less
about it (in fact most will do it for you).

Ford has really underrated the power figures in these cars!!! I'd say
you have closer to 275-280bhp. You don't need a whole bunch to hit the 300
mark. I'd say a larger m.a.f. (75 or 77mm, don't forget you have 24lb./hr
injectors) and an E303 cam (don't forget to replace the 1.7 ratio rockers
with 1.6 ratio rockers or you'll have some trouble). If you'd like, the
Cobra intakes respond very well to having them Extrude-Honed <tm>. 3.55:1
gears are usually recommended, but I've seen the Cobras *really* take off
with a 3.73:1 final drive. A friend of mine has a 1995 Cobra. All he did
was replace the m.a.f. with a 77mm unit and put in 3.73's and his car
absolutely flies!

Easy, trade it in towards a 96 Cobra. That's an easy bump up to 305 hp
without any modifications.
