EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It's one of those emmition gadgets
on you EFI 5.0. If you have a mustang older than '86, the advice given to your
doesn't even apply. It sits to the rear of the throtle body. Try taking off the
air intake track and giving everything a good cleaning. Check your throtle body
to make sure you don't have any kind of deposits gumming anything up. Carb and
choke cleaner works great for this kinda stuff.

Try it and tell me what happens.

The EGR valve is that big round thing on the back ot the throttle body. It
lookes kind of like a speaker frame. The evp is the plastic sensor attached to
the back of it. The whole assembly comes off by removing two nuts,
disconnecting a vacumn line and disconnecting a wiring harness.

EGR is Exhaust Gas Recirculation. EVP is EGR Valve Position Sensor. The
EGR valve inserts exhaust gas into the intake manifold. This is actually a
good thing! The EVP tells the EEC (Electronic Engine Control) what the
EGR valve is doing.
