That's it, Danny Boy. Stir up some more sh$t. As if we don't have

temptation to start a "fire"? Many people that frequent this group own
both Chevy's and Fords. Such as myself. And Jim Stoltz who owns a very

Take it easy. I wasn't trying to start any fires--it I was I would have
posted to a Chevy newsgroup. Somebody started the Can Hear Every Valve one
but couldn't seem to remember the rest of it, so I finished it. I think most
of those acronyms are pretty clever and I don't take them that seriously. As
much as I love Fords, my favorite Ford acronym is Fucker Only Runs Downhill.
It's just a good natured jab.

Ronbo,

The boyz are just having fun. If you don't care for it, don't spend
so much time writing a dissertation in which you dispense with
requests for change and advice.

As you astutely pointed out, this group should be used for other
purposes and I agree, but this is not a perfect world.

Sincerely,

A Chevy /Ford/Dodge owner (a.k.a. -D)

It's nice to hear someone like yourself in here once in a while, I just
can't understand why so many others are so dead set against other brands
of cars. I also own both a GM and a Ford and love both of them. To me as
long as it's rear drive and has a V8 engine, I don't care who makes it.
Each person is free to choose whichever car suits them best and that's
fine, but when people start cutting up other's choices, that is where I
draw the line. We should all just be happy that they even still make
these rear drive V8 cars, back in the mid 70s they almost totally killed
them off on us. It's nice to see Ford and GM start to get into a little
horsepower war (with the Cobra versus the Camaro SS and Firebird WS6),
the consumer will be the one to benefit here. To settle the bet of which
one of the two cars is faster doesn't really matter, in some cases the
Mustang will be faster and in some cases the Ram-air cars will win, they
are that close in performance. What it all boils down to in most cases
is driver skill, the better driver wins out, not necessarily the faster
car. When I'm out driving in either one of my cars, it's just nice to
beat another fast car, whether it's a Ford or a GM I really don't care.
Maybe it's just where I live or something, but when I have beaten a
Mustang in my TA, I have gotten a thumbs up, and when I've beaten a GM
in my Mustang, I also have gotten a thumbs up before. It is always nice
when someone accepts defeat graceously, and I would do the same, because
there is always gonna be someone out there faster than you, unless your
name is Kenny Bernstein!

Mr. Rafferty,
What ever, dude. I make a simple comment about how some people might
take offense to the post that this person left and you jump out of your
little hole to analyze my comment and pass your judgement on me. You
sound like an advocate for confrontation, judging by your reply. Did I
say that I would key the car with the Calvin sticker on it??? NNNOOOOOOO
!! Did I say that I'd be out there, pom-pom's in hand :), cheering it
on?? NNNOOOOO !! But there are too many crazed high school/college kids
that wouldn't think twice about doing it. Agreed? I wouldn't do
something like that for the simple fact that I believe in the "do unto
others" bit. But just like my Camaro was keyed for no reason. Bone
stock, no offending stickers anywhere. Someone just saw its red prowess
in the parking lot at Wal-Mart and probably thought to himself "If I
can't have something that pretty than neither should he".

It was this person's God-given right to make these comments about
Chevy's, just as is my right to bitch and moan about it. And yours to
make your comments. I was only stating the fact that there has been
enough of this crap posted and everyone is sick of it, except for the
fire-starters of course. They can't post helpfull replies to questions
or funny stories about their cars. They can only hide behind their
kybd's and throw crap out to piss the other guy off. And how do you know
that I'm the only one offended by this guys post? I'm pretty new to this
group, so maybe over time I'll become ammune to these comments and
overlook them. And yes, I do take the Ford/Chevy battle in fun. WITH
PEOPLE THAT I KNOW!! Believe me, I've caught my fair share of shit from
my Chevy-driving buddy's since buying my GT. Been called everything from
"traider" to "sell-out". But all in good fun. And now I drive one of
each. So you can't say that I go around with my "heart on my sleeve" as
you put it. I've been hangin' out and street racin' far to long to be
able to do that.

I sincerely hope that I haven't offended you. All I ask is that you let
me have my say without being picked apart, as I would you.

How right you are. And I live by those lines too. There's always
someone who will beat you, no matter what you drive. I don't care if you
have a 10.20 Nova or a blown GT that runs 9.80's, someone sometime,
someday....and it will happen.....is gonna pull up next to you and rip
you a new one. I'm like you. I own both kind and I respect both kind.
And that's all there is to it. If I can go up against anything and win,
no matter which one I'm driving, then I'm happy. But if I loose I'm
never a dick about it. I always throw a thumb up, win or loose, 'cause I
love racing (as long as I don't get caught :) ). But I still like
winning the most. That's human nature. I guess that it's the addiction
to the testosterone and adrenaline. But some people in this group take
offense to people speaking their minds about flame-baiters. I'm new to
the group and don't like when people start ridiculing the choices that
others make. Maybe as I use it more and see these posts more and more
I'll become immune to them. I realize that they're probably having fun,
but I would never be one to down a guys Mustang or Camaro, just because
that's the choice he made.

I guess I missed your poll... how, exactly, did you determine that
"everyone" is sick of it?

It seems to me that, in many cases, what starts out on here as friendly
(or, maybe, semi-friendly!) jabs at the "competition" ends up in serious
discussions regarding the pro's and con's of certain aspects of auto
tech... I agree that this particular F.O.R.D. post hasn't gone much of
anywhere exciting, but it seemed to be on that path before its
resurrection.

We Mustang owners have to put up with the (ugh) Found On Road Dead jabs
(but that saying is older than Mustangs themselves, so who really
cares)... of course, the "other side" has to contend with crappy cars.
So, I guess we still end up with the better deal. ;)

My problem with Chevy started many years ago when, where I grew up, if you
owned anything other than a Chevy your manhood and fidelity to the union
were immedietly in question. Ford sucked. Mopar sucked. Buick, Olds
sucked. Pontiac was just ok. To this day I see and hear so much
disinformation about makes other than Chevy laid on people looking to get
into a vehicle that they like but who are not mechanics. Every month Boyd
Coddington makes snide comments about Ford in his column in Rod & Custom
and urges every body to build the "simpler and cheaper" chevies in their
Ford rods! I can't help but be sick of all of this BS. I can't help but
see red when I see a camaro. I would own a '65-'67 Impala fastback coz
they're just beautiful cars. I'd own a '67-69 camaro coz they are
beautiful cars. I'd own a 69 Z28 but I'd stick a 302 Boss, toploader and
9" rear into it just to piss people off coz I'm sick of 350/350 combos in
otherwise nice Ford rods. So, I like some chevies but I have a kinky mean
streak that is not going away anytime soon. I recently saw a 350 in a 55
Ford! I had a guy tell me that he went with a Chevy coz the Fords are too
heavy and big and unreliable! Three lies in a row. The 302 is smaller
and lighter than a Chevy mouse and if it is an inch longer you now have a
shorter water pump available. The 351W is about the same size as the
mouse. Big blocks are comparable as well. There are a lot of people in
the public eye spreading this "Ford is the lesser" bs and if you want to
talk over them you gotta yell.

I dig Mopars. My first car was a Plymouth. The problem with other makes
is they would take up space in my drivway where a Ford could be.

I'm not a big fan of Audi, but that unintended acceleration thing was

To say that 60 Minutes = Hard Copy is to say Theodore Roosevelt = Bob
Dornan.

Mike Wallace and Don Hewitt are not car guys and have no clue as to what
makes a car work. They reported the story from ignorance and through
their ignorance they hooked up with a fringe nut who "proved" the Audi
"problem" with gizmos and snake oil. Wallace and Hewitt should have
gotten together with a real automotive authority such as a journalist from
Road & Track or Car & Driver and done the sort of investigation as Car &
Driver later did.
