Can Hear Every Valve Rap On Long Extended Trips
Cheap Hardly Efficient Virtually Runs On Luck Every Time
~Dan
Take it easy. I wasn't trying to start any fires--it I was I would have
posted to a Chevy newsgroup. Somebody started the Can Hear Every Valve one
but couldn't seem to remember the rest of it, so I finished it. I think most
of those acronyms are pretty clever and I don't take them that seriously. As
much as I love Fords, my favorite Ford acronym is Fucker Only Runs Downhill.
It's just a good natured jab.

If you use those big words, the chevy people will not understand it.
The boyz are just having fun. If you don't care for it, don't spend
so much time writing a dissertation in which you dispense with
requests for change and advice.
As you astutely pointed out, this group should be used for other
purposes and I agree, but this is not a perfect world.
Sincerely,
A Chevy /Ford/Dodge owner (a.k.a. -D)

It's nice to hear someone like yourself in here once in a while, I just
can't understand why so many others are so dead set against other brands
of cars. I also own both a GM and a Ford and love both of them. To me as
long as it's rear drive and has a V8 engine, I don't care who makes it.
Each person is free to choose whichever car suits them best and that's
fine, but when people start cutting up other's choices, that is where I
draw the line. We should all just be happy that they even still make
these rear drive V8 cars, back in the mid 70s they almost totally killed
them off on us. It's nice to see Ford and GM start to get into a little
horsepower war (with the Cobra versus the Camaro SS and Firebird WS6),
the consumer will be the one to benefit here. To settle the bet of which
one of the two cars is faster doesn't really matter, in some cases the
Mustang will be faster and in some cases the Ram-air cars will win, they
are that close in performance. What it all boils down to in most cases
is driver skill, the better driver wins out, not necessarily the faster
car. When I'm out driving in either one of my cars, it's just nice to
beat another fast car, whether it's a Ford or a GM I really don't care.
Maybe it's just where I live or something, but when I have beaten a
Mustang in my TA, I have gotten a thumbs up, and when I've beaten a GM
in my Mustang, I also have gotten a thumbs up before. It is always nice
when someone accepts defeat graceously, and I would do the same, because
there is always gonna be someone out there faster than you, unless your
name is Kenny Bernstein!

Okay, but only because you asked so nice :) Here are all the ones I know,
excluding all American makes. (Of course now I'll probably get slammed for
being a racist or something.) Remember what I wrote yesterday--these are just
a goof, I take no responsibility for the accuracy or validity of these (though
I do agree with many of them).

What riot? The only person offended so far has been you.
: this group. If you wanta have some fun and not piss off any of us here
: then come up with a few sayings for some of the Japanese/Foreign cars.
Because there has been a traditional rivalry between Ford and Chevy for
about a million years now. It's a fun rivalry, this is harmless banter,
and it's good natured.
: And as for Calvin pissing on the Ford oval or Chevy bowtie, everytime I
: see one I think "There's a guy just asking to get his car keyed". 'Cause
And every time I see a keyed car I think "There's a guy with a key out
there just asking to be taken to the Emergency Room." You wouldn't be
advocating this now would you? 'Cause that's just a wee bit more serious
than anything that's been brought up in this thread.
Quit wearing your heart on your sleeve. This is good natured humor. Get
over it.

I sincerely hope that I haven't offended you. All I ask is that you let
me have my say without being picked apart, as I would you.

How right you are. And I live by those lines too. There's always
someone who will beat you, no matter what you drive. I don't care if you
have a 10.20 Nova or a blown GT that runs 9.80's, someone sometime,
someday....and it will happen.....is gonna pull up next to you and rip
you a new one. I'm like you. I own both kind and I respect both kind.
And that's all there is to it. If I can go up against anything and win,
no matter which one I'm driving, then I'm happy. But if I loose I'm
never a dick about it. I always throw a thumb up, win or loose, 'cause I
love racing (as long as I don't get caught :) ). But I still like
winning the most. That's human nature. I guess that it's the addiction
to the testosterone and adrenaline. But some people in this group take
offense to people speaking their minds about flame-baiters. I'm new to
the group and don't like when people start ridiculing the choices that
others make. Maybe as I use it more and see these posts more and more
I'll become immune to them. I realize that they're probably having fun,
but I would never be one to down a guys Mustang or Camaro, just because
that's the choice he made.

I guess I missed your poll... how, exactly, did you determine that
"everyone" is sick of it?
It seems to me that, in many cases, what starts out on here as friendly
(or, maybe, semi-friendly!) jabs at the "competition" ends up in serious
discussions regarding the pro's and con's of certain aspects of auto
tech... I agree that this particular F.O.R.D. post hasn't gone much of
anywhere exciting, but it seemed to be on that path before its
resurrection.
We Mustang owners have to put up with the (ugh) Found On Road Dead jabs
(but that saying is older than Mustangs themselves, so who really
cares)... of course, the "other side" has to contend with crappy cars.
So, I guess we still end up with the better deal. ;)
I dig Mopars. My first car was a Plymouth. The problem with other makes
is they would take up space in my drivway where a Ford could be.
Tom
I'm not a big fan of Audi, but that unintended acceleration thing was
bullshit. See the excellent article in Car & Driver for a complete study
of the situation including the sort of extensive testing and analysis that
was sorley lacking in Mike Wallaces hatchet job on 60 Minutes.
Tom
You mean the same people who put bottle rockets and rigged the sides of chevy
trucks to show how dangerous the 'pinto-like' explosion is when hit from the
side? Those shows, along with Hard Copy, Inside Edition, etc. are more
worthless than the average infomercial. They certainly don't represent the
truth nor do they care as long as they sucker in a bunch of literal boobs to sit
in front of the tubes.
Gosh, now I've victimized you. Now I really feel like scum. (is that
confrontational enough for ya?)
: make your comments. I was only stating the fact that there has been
: enough of this crap posted and everyone is sick of it, except for the
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Everyone's sick of it? Maybe my news service is slower than usual. The
only posts I've seen are good natured banters at both Ford and Chevy.
My dad calls my 'Stang a "Mud Stain" all the time. He means it good
natured. If someone off the street said it, I might take offense. It's
all in the context. The context of this discussion is good natured, so
either read it in that context, or don't read this thread.
: I'm pretty new to this group...
At the risk of sounding condescending, let me give you some usenet advice
(no, I'm not being sarcastic). When new to a newsgroup, read it for awhile
before posting. Get a feel for the group. You obviously thought that
some real trashing was going on when it wasn't. You'd have known otherwise
if you hadn't jumped the gun. There's plenty of REAL bashing that goes on
in this newsgroup--jump on those!

No, that was Dateline NBC. BTW, Chevy trucks do explode like Pintos when
hit hard from the side. Not every time but it is a real problem. BTW II,
Mustangs can explode in the same manner as Pintos. I still drive them.

To say that 60 Minutes = Hard Copy is to say Theodore Roosevelt = Bob
Dornan.
Mike Wallace and Don Hewitt are not car guys and have no clue as to what
makes a car work. They reported the story from ignorance and through
their ignorance they hooked up with a fringe nut who "proved" the Audi
"problem" with gizmos and snake oil. Wallace and Hewitt should have
gotten together with a real automotive authority such as a journalist from
Road & Track or Car & Driver and done the sort of investigation as Car &
Driver later did.
Tom
: I appologize if I have offended anyone.
I myself own a Mazda, but I am not offended. I respect both Ford and
GM. Heck I have a good time actually driving my cousin's 87 Olds Cutlass
Supreme while listening to that 5.0 V8, and hope to take a spin in a
Mustang pretty soon. If someone tells me they can kick my a** in a drag
race, I sometimes agree, but my RX-7 has the kind of handling that will
challenge most of these products. I hope we can all be civilized enough
to respect each other.

I agree that there's always somebody faster. But if you're fast enough,
you may never run into that person. It MAY NOT happen.
