i bought a 95 gt that i think is a GTS model but i'm not 100% sure. the facts
that point in this direction are: 1- no wing from factory
2- no power options
3- 4 wheel disc no anti-lock
4- base v-6 seats
5- on the door panel tang the body code
is GT-2
6- stock axle was 3:08
if someone has the answer to my question please drop me a line. also; if my car
is indead what i think it is are there any registries for them? oh yeah i don't
know if this is a factor or not but it is canary yellow.
thanks!

Yes, you do have a GTS. I remember the first time I saw one of these, with the
roll up windows. I freaked out.. I didn't know they came stripped without power

Sounds like my GTS. The only creature comfort on mine is A/C. I think A/C
was optional in 95. Good luck on finding a specific GTS registry or
production information. If anyone has any info on them, please post. I've
haven't had much luck finding anything on mine. Thanks

Yep, that's a GTS. Canary yellow is a pretty rare color from what
I've seen.

Hold on here. Are you saying that the body code GT2 means one has a
GTS model? Shouldn't the title reflect what the car *really* is???
How the hell do you know which car you bought? If the car
says GT, and the purchase order says GT - shouldn't that mean one
*has* a GT?

Hopefully, I am wrong.

In '95, GTS was a GT Stripped. It still says "GT" on the side
badges and on the rear bumper. For '96, Ford changed its
line up, and what was the GTS became the GT model without the
"group 3" option package.

So, basically, I think you are right. If what makes a GT
a GT is the powertrain, then the '95 GTS and the '96 GT w/o
Group 3 are still GT's.

But the confusion comes in when it's time to sell/trade the car,
and the (base) blue book values aren't the same. If it doesn't say
anywhere on any of my paperwork "GTS," I sure as hell should
get the trade-in for "GT." I have a feeling the dealer is going to
want to go with the lower of the two figures...

Stupid question, can somebody tell me what's a gts and what's so special
about it?

Thanks

There's nothing special about it. It's a GT without the frills.
A typical GTS would not have:

rear spoiler
fog lights
pdl
pw
cc
etc.

I must have a half-ass GTS, then... Mine DOES have cc, and abs, but
not spoiler, fog lights, pdl, pw...

So basically it's looks like a no-option 3.8 with a v8 instead of a v6.
Does it read "Mustang GT" or Mustang GTS" on the back bumper. Oh, is there
any difference in the engine, or is it just the 4.6.

The reason I ask this that there's a canary yellow stang by my house, it
looks like a GT, says GT, minus spoiler and fog lights, but it has the stock
gt rims, dual exhaust, and hardly has any options inside (I took a peek
inside), except it has the gt style seats. The car always confused the hell
out of me, either it's a 3.8 and someone made it to look like a GT but its
definitly faster then a 3.8. The reason I say this is because I saw him
driving around once and pulled up next to me and, at the light he didn't
blow me off but gave me a good run for it. I wasn't able to beet him but I
kept up, so it's not a 3.8.

Mario,
The yellow Mustang IS a GT. They only offered the Mustang in yellow on the GT
and GT convertible models. There were no 3.8l yellow Mustangs sold by Ford.

Since you have cc, you must have the luxury version of the GT(S). :-)

Yeah I know the yellow is only a gt color, so since it's bone stock on the
inside, it's got to be a gts then.

It has a no-option V6 interior but the outside GT emblems and rocker
panel moldings, just no rear spoiler or fog lights and 16" wheels.

Does it read "Mustang GT" or Mustang GTS" on the back bumper. Oh, is there

It reads Mustang GT on the bumper. Only the 95's are specified as the GTS
even though the 96's (and possibly newer) could be ordered with similar
equiptment (or the lack of equiptment). The engine is the same 5.0 as all
other GT's.

wow!! i did not know i would touch a subject that would generate this much
interest. mine does have cc and a/c by the way. i am also wondering what the
resale difference is between gt and gts models? does ford have anything to say
about this debate?

If you want to have a GTS that stands out and gets many comments such as
"What's a GTS?", go to the local Toyota dealer and order a "GTS" badge. It is
on Toyota's 1986? GTS. Looks neat in place of the Ford Blue Oval on the rear
deck. I did that to mine and it stands out.

Chrome Yellow WAS a GT only color. Not so for 98. Maby our yellow
stangs will blend in more now. Yah right.
