Hello:

I have just received my Motive Gear 3.90's today along with a 23 tooth
speedo gear. Is the 23 tooth gear the correct one for the 3.90's? The guy
on the phone through whom I placed the order with did not sound very sure.
I have a 95 GTS, pretty much stock with just exhaust. Thanks!

Yes, Motive Gear now makes 3.90s for 8.8s along with some of the other
"classic" gear ratios as well.

Yeah they were new as of about 3 months ago. From what I heard motive is
a half decent gear company but this is the first I saw the 3.90's being
used, was thinking about them myself for my dream car. Oh well enough
useless information from me.

Here is the calculation:

No. of teeth in current speedo gear/current ratio = No. of teeth in new
speedo gear/new ratio

In my case I went from a 3.08 to a 3.55 and started with a 20 tooth speedo
gear.

So the calculation was 20/3.08 = x/3.55

x = 3.55 times 20/3.08

x = 23

Hey, Rio, straying a bit from the thread here: does your car just lack power
options and fog lights? I heard there was a GTS (not sure if it was in '96
only) that was so stripped, it lacked A/C as well.

After learning this, I wonder if our cars have earned the right to be called
a GTS?

Hi Cindy ;0)

They made GTS's in 95 and 96. I have seen a couple here in Tampa with power
windows as a factory "option". Mine only has power mirrors, defrost, tape
deck, and A/C. Everything else is like having a V6 but with a 5.0 in it.

It's a great car. The spoiler was added by the last owner. I have a
Cervini's front nose and hood on her now, so I have to get the cobra
foglights to put on the front. A/C was optional as well (thank god it was
put on my car, it can get hot in FL).

John,
I ordered it from Holcomb Motorsports, usually the first page on the MM&FF
magazines. www.holcombmotorsports.com. They are from Motive Gear.

Thank you so much.. I was just a little concerned as I do not want to be
going faster than what the speedo said, as well as adding untrue miles. I
have stock 16" wheels from factory with 225 55 16's. I can't wait to get
those gears in! =o)

Yeah, same here...except it's a 4.6 ;-)

Again, same here. Does your spoiler have a brake light in it? Mine does, but
it doesn't seem to work.

I'll bet! In a way, I wish mine didn't have A/C; it would be rare as hell
and I'd be forced to leave it alone, mods wise. :-p
