I picked up my Summit Racing Import catalog yesterday morning just to
take a look at it. I open up the first page and see something like
6 pictures of cars racing.
The 4th picture down is a picture of MY CAR racing a black 2G DSM!
Mine is the Dark Grey 2nd generation Mitsubishi Eclipse in the
foreground, spinning my wheels :-) It is really a good picture!
My jaw nearly dropped out of my skull.
This was an import race that Summit put on on July 11th in Norwalk, OH
last year. It was on the same weekend as the DSM Shootout, so a
lot of us just stayed for the import race.
I was bracket racing that day. I made it something like 4 rounds
before I redlighted :-/
I know it is my car because there were only 2 or 3 cars there that
were my color (only offered from 97-98). And I was the only one
bracket racing. And I was certainly the only one with a 14.x dialin.
The race gas at that track SUCKED (Sunoco - I prefer VP).
It was really cool to see my car in print, though :-) I am glad
that I washed my car every day I was out there. It looks nice
and shiny :-)

Congrats! But what does a Mitsubishi have to do with Honda, or Mustangs
for that matter? Maybe next time I win a race with another Mustang I'll
go and post about it on the Honda and Toyota groups, and maybe Porsche
for good measure. ;)

If you are friends with people in the Honda, Toyota, and Porsche
groups, then more power to you! :-)
I can't recall ever seeing you posting here before so I'm assuming you're new
here. Josh is a friend of the newsgroup and knowing/learning about other cars
is something we (the R.A.M.F.M. regulars) all do here whether it be giving
opinions, helping others with tech stuff when their own won't help them, or
TROLLING. There may be tons and tons of Stangs and Cambirds dusting
Mitsubishis, and other imports, but it's always an eye opener when a sleeper
Eclipse toys with a supposed musclecar and then leaves it in the dust. I think
it's cool. Racing is racing no matter what you drive. I, and I'm sure a lot
of others here feel the same, welcome Josh's posts about his car. At least he
likes racing instead of hopping around on wire rims and blowing out windows
with a trillion watt sound system.

I've done quite a bit of posting, actually. I'm all for learning new

Hey Hogan, take your high horse and shove it ;). No really! Its kind of
amazing, I don't recall seeing you here until recently, and your ISP of choice
is also the ISP of a rather infamous person around these parts. Interesting
stuff, huh?
Hey, and Josh, congrats. Next thing you know, your car will be featured in
some import magazine.
BTW, Hogan, not to be rude, but Josh has taken what was a high 14 sec ride
about a year and half ago and turned into a mid 12 sec ride with pretty simple
mods. The head gasket is original if I'm not mistaken. Not to mention he's
posted to this NG all during that time, and never been half as rude to anyone
as you have been to him. I'd also be willing to bet some hard earned cash that
his little Mitsu 2.0L could teach your 351W a thing or two.

I never thought was post was rude in the first place, and judging by
Josh's own reply, I don't think he did either. Nice to see people stick
up for eachother, sad to see people take it to such extremes over
something so little.
I appreciate the people that take the time and money needed to make a car
they enjoy. Be it import or domestic, 4cyl or v10, it doesn't matter.
As for taking on my 351w without knowing anything about it, that's quite a
bet. At least one other person in the group has seen my '67 but hasn't
seen it race and I haven't taken the time to have it dyno'd, it's not
important to me. I'm in it for the fun and learning/tweaking aspects.
I apologize if my post was taken seriously, it wasn't meant to be. I can

You seem like a newbie. If thats the case your much better off just
lurking for awhile, and trying to learn. Josh has a nice newish
Eclipse that runs 12s in full street trim. After going to Englishtown
for 6 straight weeks I only saw one car that was running 12s in full

The 2.0 is quite a stout little motor. He doesn't use NOS, and very
few DSMs. Your lack of knowedge makes me laugh....
Do you think that you can't learn anything from my experiences?
Even if you don't, there are a few SVO Mustang owners on this newsgroup
that might feel differently.
You have the option to never read any of my posts. Put me into a

Hardly any DSMs run nitrous. The ones that do are running 9's or 10's.
I have no reason to run nitrous on my car. It hit the 12's by just
turning up the boost to 21psi and leaning out the fuel curve some.
Oh, and some decent driving. Completely stock engine. It has never
been opened.
Hell, if I ran nitrous, I would probably be in the 11's! But I want
to get there without another power adder. Shit, did I just say that
I wanted to run 11's? No I didn't. Nope.
...
Yea, I did. Awww crap!

You haven't been in this group for that long obviously. Yes, it's about
Mustangs, which draws most of us here... including the trolls. But, it's also
about cars, which keeps many of us here for years (myself included).
Many of the ideas that he has put into play on his car could also be transposed
to certain Mustangs... SVO's (and Turbo GT's). They also had 4 cylinder turbo
motors as his does.
I would say that anything he has to say regarding his car, especially when it
could be helpful to those in this group, isn't crap.
>I may not have brought "anything substantial to the table" as you say, but
>what things I did bring had to do with mustangs one way or another and
>several times they helped out others and myself..
Then I guess they'd be substantial, now wouldn't they?
You may have noticed that he seldom begins any threads, but often joins in with
the technical discussions, especially when they regard forced induction,
primarily turbocharging. It's a place he has knowledge, which should be seen
as an asset.
I'd rather read about that then discussions of positioning of cup holders, even
if they are in a Mustang.

If this is about displacement consider the following:
1985 Ferrari 156/85 Formula One
1.5-liter, 6-cylinder Turbo Racing Engine
Engine No. 14
Bore 81.0 mm
Stroke 48.4 mm
Displacement 1,496.43 cc
Compression 7.0:1
Horsepower 780 bhp @ 11,000 rpm

Hell of a lot of ponies for a 1.5 liter!!!!
I just couldn't bring myself to snip any of your post :-)
Summit has had an import racing catalog for at least a year and a
half. Probably more like 2 years. They also are starting to host
import only drag races.
They probably decided to do it because it is <gasp> profitable!
There are alot of people hot-rodding their imports these days. Summit
wanted a piece of the action.

When they found out they could make money off of it. It's all about
money. The same K&N they sell for $35 to the Mustang guys is worth $50
the Civic guys... it's the bottom line.

Man, ever since I ordered my H.D. clutch almost 2 years ago I've been getting
all of Summit's catalogs and now for the last 6 months I've been getting the
import catalog as well. Summit really has it narrowed down to riceboy catalog
since the majority of what's in this rag is mostly stuff for looks (seats,
guages, chrome engine parts, car audio, shifter knobs/handles, ion foglights,
......hey, wait.......where are the designer fire extinguishers?). The catalog
is only about the thickness of a comic book. This newest one I'm looking at
has some dude looking under the hood of a blue Civic on the cover. Just on the
inside of the cover are snapshots of imports at the dragstrip. Which one was
Josh's again?

My car is the 4th one down! It is the grey car in the foreground
with the spinning front wheel :-) The front differential is open, so
the passenger front wheel is the most likely to spin. I have little
bits of rubber all over the wheel-well. But I think that the rubber
is from the track and not from my tire.
I have scanned that page from the summit catalog and put it on my
web site. So, if anyone wants to see it, take a look!
http://www.geocities.com/shapegsx/
I also have other pictures of my car on there, and a list of all my
modifications and best drag times. I'll have to post the movie that
I have and a few pictures of my car racing. But I don't have them
scanned yet :-) I know some people have asked to see my car in the
past, so I figured it was time for a site!

Josh, you really need to look around for stray people wandering about the track

Hey Josh...did this happen at NED? Doesn't the magazine have to ask your
permission to use the photo or you can sue their ass? Or maybe the track have
that written in their contract that when you sign the line, they can sell pics
of you?

LOL! Yea, a friend of mine sent me that picture after I posted it to
a local mailing list :-) heh Like the stickers on my car? ;-)
Hey, I just uploaded 2 of my timeslips to the web page in jpg
format.
And I also uploaded video of me beating an old Mopar product pretty
badly. It is 6MB. It isn't my best run. Just a 13.7x. But it
does show what a good launch looks like!
Check it out:

No, it happened at Norwalk Raceway Park. Summit sponsored an import
race out there (Norwalk, OH).

Well, I don't know. I mean, it is my car, and you can't actually see
me in the picture! :-)

Now that is a definite possibility.
Either way, I don't care. I just used up a minute of my 15 minutes of
fame. I think it is cool :-)
Dave Buschur, who has his car at the top of the page, has his name
plastered all over his car, runs a business, and doesn't use any
Summit parts is VERY pissed off, though.
