Even if I am far from a Toyota fan, I have pity for this car...the poor car
must feel awful. Sort of like having to go to your high school reunion in a
clown suit. Or suddenly waking up naked in the middle of a shopping center
with blue hair and lipstick. Or like how you would feel seeing your picture
and name on a billboard writing about your erectile disfunctions...

I think you get my drift...just glad it's not a Mustang...

Hey, don't knock it till you've tried it!

No worse than if I'd lost an election to Bill Clinton.

I took my kids to a big lowrider show at the Cow Palace in Daly City, CA, a
couple years ago, and this Ebay Toyota is representative of the show cars on
display there. The builders apply gold leaf, and glue on little mirrors, and
pile decoration on decoration. Even the seats have patterns made of glued on
metal and glass mirror tiles. Going for baroque for sure.

The street driven cars, heavy on '60's-'70's GM products, were much more
understated and actually cool for what they were, although skinny little tires
and virtually no suspension travel must make for a better low-speed cruiser than
a daily driver.

Another attraction was the dancing car competition. The competitors stood by
their cars one at a time in the main arena, with thick cables running from their
controller boxes to the cars' hydraulics. They'd start with some wheel lifts,
then get the front end jumping, and finally make their cars jump around in
circles in time to the rap thumping over the PA. The skillful ones really got
the crowd going. I was more entertained by the ones that caught fire in the
trunk and package-tray area as the wiring melted from the current load, although
I did pity the owners for the heavy financial loss this must entail.

Is this thing actually a drivable car, or just a show piece?

What a pity. Just think of all the effort it took to do that car. Now if
the guy took that effort and applied it to an actual tasteful restoration
think of the possibilities.

Funny thing is, for the amount of money he spent on that one car, he
probably could have done 3 frame ups of another style.

Well, it is a show car. Something tells me that whoever created that can
afford to many things. Resto may not be his his thing. Let him live. I
actually think it's cool...not as a daily driver but as a show stopper....or
maybe even a back yard ornament.
