It sounded great. I asked all the sales people about the "R" and no
one had any idea what it stood for. And since Buerge Ford is not an
SVT dealer - they didn't know if it was a new SVT for 2001 or 2002.
But I do know it wasn't the much fancied Cobra R - didn't have many of
the Cobra R features (wheels, rear wing, etc.).
Any one ever see one of these GT"R"? Although not certain, the emblem
did look factory - not aftermarket.
And by the way - Beverly Hills Ford had Two 2001 Saleen 281's on their
showroom floor: non-supercharged: $35,000; and the 281SC was
$40,000. And these were regular hardtop models - not convertibles.

Ford just called saying they wrote something in the contract
incorrectly and need me there to re-sign the contract - it won't
affect the purchase price or my payments. When I get there tonight,
I'll make sure to take my camera - just in case the "GTR" is still
there.

Someone posted a few pictures a while back, basically showing off the
"GTR" emblems. It was meant as a joke, akin to how you see imports with
their "R" stickers and emblems all over the place. That's probably all
this was.

Just makes me feel better that I didn't miss out on a special "R"

You can get them for the front grill now, to replace the pony. I would never do that. SACRALIGE!
