I went to BFGoodrich's site and found this:

I just found this very interesting. Also, did you know that the old
Firestone slicks are now Phoenix slicks? They sold their tooling and
and stuff to Phoenix.

I did however see a hilarious article in the news dept.

BFGoodrich Tires Official Statement Regarding Scorcher T/A
Date: July 29, 1999

GREENVILLE, S.C. - BFGoodrich Tires is very concerned about misconceptions
that have arisen regarding the possible misuse of the new Scorcher T/A color
tire. We absolutely do not condone reckless or illegal driving.

As a result of these misconceptions, ALL marketing, advertising and
public-relations materials containing any information or visuals that could
be misinterpreted as encouraging reckless driving are being destroyed. A
promotional video for the tire, which portrayed cars leaving colored tread
marks, was shot with professional drivers, in a controlled environment and
on white concrete to highlight the colored tread. Outside of this controlled
environment and on normal roads, the tires might leave a trace of color, but
only in extreme driving conditions - which BFGoodrich discourages.

We regret the video has caused people to believe we would encourage this
type of behavior. We have completely stripped the video of any questionable
footage and will redistribute it to all interested parties.

The Scorcher T/A was developed to provide consumers the opportunity to
achieve a higher level of vehicle customization. It will be available in
yellow on August 1. BFGoodrich brand plans to work closely with all
concerned parties prior to the release of additional color tires in early
2000.

So... Does this mean that I'm buying MICHELIN Comp T/A's?

Doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

Shades of things to come. The 21st century will bring mergers, LBOs,
hostile takeovers, etc. (re: Daimler-Chrysler,
Ford-Mazda-Jaguar-Volvo). Soon we'll be able to buy a Mustang in the
Ford division of Wal-Mart.

I found it at www.bfgoodrich.com and hit the "no tires" button.

You've technically been doing it for years, Michelin bought out the
Uniroyal/Goodrich company a while ago.

BFG was bought out by Michelin at least a year ago, along with Uniroyal. The
tires are still called BF Goodrich and Uniroyal, no need for anyone to get
their panties in a bunch
