Well, this isn't really a cheat.. but a good way to get cash. Once you
have your International B license, build a car with <= 295 hp (I built
mine with 293) and make sure you put the 13k tires on the car. Run the
30 lap endurance race (will take about 55 minutes), and take 1st place.
You should do the pit stop ever 10 or 11 laps to replace the tires.
You'll get 150k for 1st prize, and a 686 hp 99 Supra GT also. Sell the
Supra for 250k, and you got yourself 400k from one race. And if you
ever want the Supra again, you can always re-race, win, and get the car
again! It works well. I've got a 600+ hp station wagon ;) As well as a
99 Cobra, 95 ZR-1, and a Viper GTS... all 3 are racing modified, as
well as fully loaded w/ options. You can't go wrong with that
combination.

The 99GT in the game says 202HP when you go to mod it. After 15grand in
mods...i had 252HP. With that, it ran 14.6 in the 400M. Again, smoking all of
first. I'm gonna get the adjustable tranny and work out the ratios for better
performance
Anybody know the real life tranny ratios for the 98GT and cobra and the 99 Gt
and cobra? I'm gonna set them as real lifew numbers and adjust the rear end
(maybe a 3.73?)and see how it feels
Now I am modding my 99 GT to hell.
Anybody notice the 99 GT horsepower bug? I bought it at 260 HP, then
after I go to my garage, the HP is down to 206 or something!!! I lose
around 50 HP by buying it!

Should've bought the ~$4k '93 Supra Turbo - easily pumped up. :)

> their drag racing, thirdly, who knows codes?
Go to "machine testing" - 400M is equal to 1/4mile.
Codes - do you have a GameShark.
BTW, decided to break out the Game Shark and a "All Money" cheat.
Bought the Cobra "Daytona" Coupe for kicks - damn, what a machine.
I also bought a '66 GT350 and pumped it up (or, since I lightened it as much
as possible, let the air out...) with everything I could buy. The only
problem is that I can't figure out how to change gear ratios (with the "pro"
tranny), and my top speed is ~109mph, which comes up mighty fast - my GT350
is weighs in ~2500# (maybe less) and is putting down ~500hp.
Before the race, select "settings" From there, press L1 -or- L2 (it
says at the top of screen), and you can switch all sorts of things
depending on what you've equipped on your car.
And I know what you mean about the Shelby.. I have the GT500, and I
was racing it with a top speed of about 110 or so. Blah.
BTW, what are people's best 1/4 times? And with what are you racing? I
finally decided to buy a GTO and got a 1/4 of 10.1##, or somewhere
around there. I would think that cars with 700+ hp should easily be
pulling 7-8s. ;)

Where did you get the GTO....i haven';t seen it in the game
My best car is the 99 CObra. I got the rio red one and put a nice set of Enkie
rims on it. I put every modification on it except the racing mod (makes it a
Saleen) and some of the HP mods. I only have it up to 388HP so i can race in
the 395HP or less classes. Funny thing is, i have raced it in some of the
450+HP classes and won there too...barely. My suspension setup and soft tires
handle the balls. Best 1/4 miles time i got was a 13.2...spinning all of 1st
gear. I tried changing the 1st gear ration and rear end gear to stop the
spin..but who knows.
I bought the million dollar Saleen and had some fun with that car..then i sold
it to buy the Ruf Porsche and let me tell you...it was the best 400,000 i ever
spent! Car looks sweet in red with some aftermarket rims...and all it needs is
a suspension kit..the damn car has 500HP stock in 4WD!!
The car I'm extremely impressed with is the Cobra Coupe - the Japanese
designers must have known how 'Mericans feel about our "supercar."
Oh.. umm.. it's in Mitsubishi.. a 3000GT. We all just call it a GTO
though ;) But definitely not the musclecar of old.

Most of your mods you can "turn off" under Settings, so if you need to
drop some HP, you can do a test run for the 1/4 mile, and set your HP
lower. That's what I've done to do races too.

I won enough races in the Z28 and bought a Viper GTS. So I'm thinking,

What's a GameShark? Where do you get one? And how much do they cost?
Seach the internet for codes for the game shark.
Apearently there is no real head to head Drag racing on GT2, sucks. Only the
400M machine test. But, I would be careful on using the machine test - It is a
often experienced bug that after a few times on the test, you will lose ALL
CARS IN YOUR GARAGE. I just stay away from the machine tests :-) There are
many bugs and glitches in GT2, so far Sony hasn't done anything about it
either.

Your best buy is to buy a Playstation Enhancer. I can get them for about $30

I've got GT1, not GT2. I've got A & B licenses and the only reason I
win ANY races is because the cars I drive have a shitload more power
than the others. I almost always qualify 6th, pass 'em all on the
straights, and typically spin out & leave the road on most corners. I
totally suck. Unless my car totally overpowers the others, I don't
stand a chance. In fact, I got beat by a f*cking Civic while I was
driving a slightly modded NSX.
I take first place after the start, by they end of the first lap I'm in
6th place. I run down all the ricers again on the straightaway and
manage to hold 1st place the entire lap. The last turn at the end of
the lap I slide off the road. Next thing I know I'm passed by a Civic
:(. I try running him down and he crosses the finish line about 2 feet
ahead of me. :(

Ahh... dude, you *really* should watch how the computers play, and
then one-up them. You definitely have to learn how to turn. Play as if
you were in real life... You wouldn't take a sharp right turn at 160
mph would you? I hope not. Most turns you should try slowing down to
about 65-75 (depending on suspension, weight mods, and tires), and
then go from there. Definitely do the test races before hand (don't
exit out), and go through the course once or twice, getting a good
feel for the turns. That'll shave 10+seconds off your best lap times,
easily, if not more. How do you think those Civis beat out your GTS??

I just gotta say, I didn't own a playstation until I played this game on my
friends.. I immediately went out the next day and bought the playstation and
GT2.. Wow this game is incredible, very realistic, which is the best part!!
And addicting, I feel like a looser for playing it 6 hours straight till wee
hours of the morning. :) But a quick question for you and others, who has
decked out their 99GT completely? I think I got about 368 or 370HP something
like that from my 99GT with every mod you can get. Tires, suspension etc..
It's killer, and handles very well now.. I am pissed I can't get a turbo kit
for it.. Got one for my Skyline tho.. Also own a 710HP Viper, which is
interesting to drive to say the least. Its realistic in the sense if you
burry the gas under certain circumstances, your gonna be all over the place
even with good tires and suspension.
So basically who has the most HP for the 99GT or Viper GTS.. I got 368HP
and full weight reduction on the GT, and 710HP with the Viper also with full
weight reduction. The viper is sick fast!! My prize possession, except for
the Denso Supra and other fast cars I won. Only complaint I have about the
game is the unrealistic pricing structure. Car wash for 5 grand? And my
99GT with over 100grand in mods is worth 4 or 5 grand? Viper worth 18 grand?
Something aint right here. But anyways killer game, kudos to all who
suggested it, I am having a ball!!
Dan
I have to say, though, that after a little while it actually becomes more
fun to work your ass off for that next turbo upgrade or whatever.
But, my favorite GT2 race was a tricked-out '98 Cobra (bright-freakin'
yellow - beautiful) in the Short Seattle Course, in the Muscle Car Cup.
Power-slides, sound effects...
>I won enough races in the Z28 and bought a Viper GTS. So I'm thinking,
>"OK, now I'll modify this thing and boost horsepower levels to the

>500-something horsepower for a Viper GTS. I take it to the high-speed
Max horsepower for a Viper GTS in GT2 is a shade over 700hp. 706, to
be specific. The torque numbers are similar.
The problem in GT2 (as in real life) is that if you pump up the hell
out of the car, you'd better do something about the suspension. The
Viper is pretty notorious for being a difficult-to-manage car in real
life, bone stock. Imagine adding 75% more horsepower and torque to
the mix, and trying to aggressively road race it. I built the motor
to the max, bought the fully adjustable suspension, softest slicks,
racing trans, etc. Everything I could, basically. The car handled
like crap. It would slide all over the place, nearly impossible to
manage on a track.
The fact is, it's simply overpowering the chassis. It's not just the
Viper that has this problem. Currently, I'm running the following
cars with heavy mods:
Supra RZ - 741hp (every mod available)
Skyline GT-R V-SPEC R34 - 740+hp (every mod)
RX-7 GT-C 685hp (every mod)
RUF CTR2 Sport 656hp (every mod)
98 Cobra 420hp (every mod)
The Supra, Skyline and Viper are all nearly impossible to drive
effectively at full power output. They overpower their tires and
suspensions -very- easily. Spinning one of them is a common
occurrence. I have the pro suspensions on all of them, and I've tuned
them to handle as best as possible.
The fact is, they're much more effective if you back them down a few
notches. I backed the Supra down to 394hp for a particular race and
it was a complete blowout. The thing cornered like it was on rails
and ate up the course (Special stage R5, the night course in the
city). When I tried the same course with the boost cranked, the car
spent more time sliding and hitting walls than anything else. Same
thing with the Skyline. At full tilt, it's a monster. But it can
only run full on on courses like the test track.. Anywhere else, I
have to back power down for it to be controllable.
Try backing the Viper down to more stock-like HP levels. You might
find it becomes a lot easier to control. It's not the only car that
has this problem. Do things like weight reduction. That stuff is
key. Less weight means the car becomes that much better at cornering.
BTW - The RUF CTR2 is the exception to this rule. That car is simply
unearthly. I have had that car completely sideways at 150mph and have
been able to recover. It accelerates like a raped ape (best 400m ET
of 9.84 seconds!) and is completely manageable. It's extremely
forgiving and capable of making even a bad driver put up fair lap
times.
>race and lose to every car entered. This game was obviously designed by
>Japs.
Now now, there's no need for ethnic slurs. The bias isn't as bad as I
had originally thought. For example, the NSX is not nearly the car I
thought it would be. I had more trouble controlling it than I did the
Viper. I ended up getting rid of it because I was let down.. I
thought it was going to be my bread and butter car for the whole
game..
Oh, and also to dispell the bias theory - The GT40 is arguably the
best car in the entire game..

Getting your licenses serves a dual purpose - it opens up races for
you and more importantly, it serves as a great tutorial. When I
started in GT2, I was driving like how you're describing. Once I
started taking the license tests, I learned a whole lot about how to
corner effectively, etc, within the game. I know the licensing system
is the same in GT1, I have it..

You're entering the corners way too fast and probably at a bad angle,
too..
I modified a Mitsubishi GTO to 930 hp, full weight reduction, etc... It
handles pretty good despite all that power. Oh, this is in GT1.

I won a Aston Martin DB7 in GT1. I went to sell it and was only offered
12,000 for it. New it costs 150,000!! What's the point if I can't get
more than 12,000 for it?
Yeah, tires are usually the first thing I mod. Then stabilizers because
they're cheap. Then I work on the engine & weight. When it gets harder
to handle, I do suspension.

"Jap" is NOT an ethnic slur.

Ask someone who's Japanese if it is or not..

I agree. Exit speed is the key. As long as you don't get excited and
overcook it into a corner, you will be fine. Even if it means entering a
corner a little slower than you might want, if you can get on the throttle
early, you will exit faster and pass everyone/ pull away from everyone on the
straight.
