Now I know that I'm probably in the wrong newsgroup, but I want to know
which group to subscribe to to get tuning hints & tips for my car !?

It does seem that everyone here is from the US but if anyone has any tips
for tuning the Peugeot 205 GTi (1.9), what to do and what not to do, I'd
like to hear from you !

Thanx in advance !

In article <3j1dhj$n...@alpha.aladdin.co.uk>,

I reckon you have 3 options,

1) chip it , something from Brodie Brittain Racing perhaps?
2) Get a Guttman conversion, that's the 405 Mi16 engine dropped in,
3) Visit Turbo Technics , for their interesting conversion

2&3 gave about 175 Bhp!

Oh, BTW, before leaving the UK for the US, i had a modified 5 GT,

missing the old hot hatches, :-(

I think Max Power has an index at the back of the magazine which includes
the best tuning ideas for individual cars. As soon as I sell my 205XS and get
the 1.9 GTi I'm going for the twin Ansa exhaust(purely for looks and some
power!) and a rolling road set up.

Oselli are the acknowledged masters of Peugeot tuning and advertise in
most publications. Give them a try.

I know you're in the wrong place, 'cos I'm stuck here too, and I too
would appreciate a group I could go too where there's a few more Brits.

The best mag you could read is Max Power. They do no end of stuff on
the 1.9, it might be worth getting in touch and seeing if they've
got any back issues on the matter you could buy. First and foremost,
they found an exhaust swap to be a complete waste of time. Peugeot it
seems got it bang on (unless you're bored with the noise it makes and
fancy something a little gruffer.) Most worthwhile mods come in the
form of fuelling, air filters, head work etc. With this car, I think
the sky is the limit (or the depth of your pocket!) If you get some
copies, you'll see some smart pictures. Lowered ones with seventeen
inch wheels look smart, though the rear torsion bar is a tiny problem.
Maxy P's conclusion was that the only real way to gain good extra
power from a 205 is too bung in a 405 Mi16 engine. A very neat and
effective conversion, which has been done a few times, so there are
people out there to help. Turbo technics could also give you a boost
in the power stakes, but are rather steep.
As the other guy said, just look at the directory to see who to
talk to, and if you find another group, let me know.
