They don't have to make up anything. Their profits have been nearly a
trillion $$$ every year Bush has been Preznit da Pirate.
With the money Bush raided from our treasury, used for research, we could be
driving non emission solar cars at 200mph for months on one hour of
sunlight.
You were doing OK till you got to that 200 mph crap. We should LOWER
speed limits and thus prevent THOUSANDS of highway killings each year.
Yeah, but with President Bush's anti-pollution initiative, there
wouldn't be that one hour of sunlight. All that research money would
be wasted.

Dumbass, they've been going up for a MONTH since the Saudi's and Opec
said they are cutting production. Notice this happened BEFORE the
election.
The other things conspiracy nuts like yourself were once again wrong
about is that Bush would "bring out" Bin Laden, who has been in custody
all along.
Check your facts before you make a fool of yourself in public because
these are the retail gasoline prices in cents/gallon for all US grades,
all formulations as published by your own Department of Energy
(http://www.eia.doe.gov/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/wrgp/mogas_history.html):
Oct 02, 2006 236.0
Oct 09, 2006 231.0
Oct 16, 2006 227.4
Oct 23, 2006 225.5
Oct 30, 2006 226.4
Nov 06, 2006 224.6
According to the DOE, overall gasoline prices three days ago were 11.4
cents/gallon lower than they were on October 2 and lower than they had
been at any time since.
One of the many investigations that need to be done by the new congress
next year is to look into the price gouging by the oil companies.

Actually raising the speed limit and increasing driving test standards
would lower the accident rate. Lowering the speed limit will decrease
fatalaties, but it won't keep idiot drivers off the road. Germanies
Autoban has NO speed limit, except in some high traffic areas, and the
Autoban accident rate is the lowest in the world.

the lowest for me in over a year.

29 cents?? You mean like 50 years ago??? Who cares about that.?
We're talking about how gas has been rising the last couple years
under bush and then tumbled the last couple months and is now rising
again.

As you can see, oil prices have gone up since the announcement. If
Bush had "big oil" in his pocket, as the nutcase OP implies, the cut in

Finally, unleaded gasoline prices:

Your numbers are retail numbers. Are you making the claim that somehow
the government has influence over the markup at the pump? Laughable.
Of course, this all doesn't mean ANYTHING because anyone that isn't

There are speed limits on most of the autobahn. When they do have
accidents on the autobahn, they almost invariably result in fatalities.

The excuses for oil price changes run from the reasonable to the absurd.
Hence a running joke on fark.com.... sample recent fark headlines:
"Oil over $59 on American public voting K-Fed out of marriage"
"Oil prices rise on news that someone has pictures of Marcia Cross nekkid"
"OPEC has finally decided on the best means to get that pesky barrel
price of oil back up. If you guessed "Terror", go ahead and light your
fat Cuban cigar with a flaming $1000 bill"
"Oil prices climb $2 a barrel on news that Oprah has approved of
Madonna's adoption of African boy"
> Of course, this all doesn't mean ANYTHING because anyone that isn't

Some of his sponsors have some power over them however.
How many more times will you need to prove you're a moron? The Autoban
is a limted access divided highway. Where ever they are, the accident
rates goes way down since you avoid cross traffic and most chances of
head on accidents.
The original poster was referring to gasoline prices, not light crude
oil prices. And even the chart you cited shows that light crude is
still lower today than it was month ago so you are wrong when you say
"they've been going up for a MONTH".

The chart cited here shows that unleaded prices did not start to rise
until just a few days ago and actually fell by 13 cents/gallon between
the beginning of October and the beginning of November. IOW, neither
citation supports your erroneous statement that prices have been going
up for a month.

I'm not making any claim at all. I was just showing US government data
that indicates the price of gasoline paid by the consumer has not been
going up for a month. The only oil-related price that has any meaning
to the consumer is the price of retail gas, so from a political
standpoint that's the only thing that matters.
> Of course, this all doesn't mean ANYTHING because anyone that isn't
> insane understands that Bush doesn't control crude or gasoline prices.
I worked for an international oil company for 30 years, and like any
other business prices are managed in the context of profits. If a
company is willing to take less profit, they can lower their prices
regardless of their variable costs. Oil prices can go up and gasoline
prices can still go down if the oil companies have an incentive to do
make that happen. In fact, anyone that isn't insane understands that
if a special interest group backs a particular candidate, they may do
whatever they legally can to help that candidate. A short-term loss of
profits to secure long-term profitability by getting your candidate
elected is not beyond the realm of possibility. Actually, it could be
a wise business decision unless the strategy backfires.
It's not the lowest in the world, you pathetic lying idiot!!!!
It's pretty obvious he was talking about mpg and his mph is a misprint.
Maybe not, but the accident rate is lower than on any U.S. freeway.
So where is it you pathetic stupid idiot?

Ayou know, oil and gasoline are commodities, and not manufactured
products. Oil companies can directly affect crude oil prices as much
as a CEO can directly affect their stock price.
You have already demonstrated quite a bit of ignorance already. First
of all, trying to compare the Autobahn with US highways is like
comparing apples and oranges. Next, you infer that the Autobahn is
mostly speed limit free and that is false. Most of the Autobahn is
"high traffic areas" and does have speed limits. Driving on the
Autobahn is nothing like the US where you have mostly low population
areas. Germany is very densely populated so you are constantly moving
in and out of high traffic areas that definitely have speed limits.
I've driven all over Germany and the areas in which you can actually
achieve high speeds are few and far between because of all the traffic.
That being said, the average driver in Germany is head and shoulders
above the average American driver in terms of driving knowledge, skills,
and ability. However, you can't compare their accident rate with the US
because they have a very different dynamic there. Everyone who drives
is used to high traffic and they take driving much more seriously. It's
very expensive and takes a lot of training to get your license there.
It doesn't take much to get your license revoked and it is very hard to
get it back if you do lose it.
Not on fark.com, but here's my contribution to the list:
"'Speeders & Drunk Drivers Are MURDERERS,' makes a logical and coherent
statement. Oil prices triple in 1 hour.

That's exactly why we compare it. Because it shows that speed doesn't

You're not paying attention. The original poster was talking about
gasoline, not crude oil. Oil companies may not affect crude oil prices
very much, but they definitely can and do affect gasoline prices by
pricing strategy, reformulation and refinery output. Since they all
sell to each other and use each others' product in their own
formulations, it is hardly a free market in the conventional sense.
Gasoline prices are relatively easily managed independently of crude
oil price.

IDIOT - there is no actual rate of travel. No matter what you set
speed limits at, 20% or so are gonna exceed. At least they will as
long as they get off with mere fines. Make the speed limit 55 and jail
anyone doing over 65. That's the answer.

Gas companies blame high gas prices on crude oil prices, but they fail
to remind you they are in the crude oil business too, and the
transport business, and the refining business, and the exploration
business and the retail business. It is completely integrated. They
control the entire process from well to nozzle.

<Yawn> Yeah, right. Bush and the neo-cons are responsible for the
refiners switching some of their capacity to heating oil - heaven forbid
they do this in light of the upcomming demand for heating oil because of
something called winter - resulting in a decrease in supply of gas, and
a projected increase in driving due to the silly season and its
associated nonsense. And of course, the neo-cons are responsible for the
increase in the price of oil because the Crown Prince Akbar Hijacker

In Kentucky the average price per galon of regular one month ago was
$2.14 - today it is $2.18. One year ago it was $2.21.
Today in Louisville, a gallon of regular can be purchased for a low of
$2.02 at Sams Club on Alliant and for a high of $2.29 at the Shell at
1st and Jefferson.
The price in Louisville today is less than it was on the 26th of
October - two weeks before the election, and the same price today as it
was one week before the election - $2.17.
The data for the same periods in 2003 and 2004 show the same early fall
drop with a late fall rise. This is the cyclical nature of retail
gasoline prices and is due primarily to a reduction in demand
preceeding a shift to heating oil in supply. Isn't economics fun?

of the stations, if you'd like to verify.
Conclusion: The Bushies are, as usual, LYING.
One of the stations I drive past every day went DOWN another $0.04 to
$2.139 per gallon. "Turkey Day," is one week away. Where's my $3.00
gas, loser?
Get a life, you scum.

Yeah, the station by my house is down one cent since the election. Just
another lie from the democrats to scare out the vote. Guess it worked
because according to a USA Today poll, 43% of Americans were clueless
enough to buy into it. They've no doubt forgotten by now that gas
prices were supposed to "shoot up" right after the election.
The average American thinks that Bush and Rove had something to do with
the "outting" of Valarie Plame and that Tom Delay did something illegal.
More lies that "worked".

Post the photos and then document that in fact the photos represent the
day you say they were taken.
