Sorry to bug you guys with this question - but I lost my owner's
manual. I'm getting ready to buy a big-screen TV and I want to take
the rear seat out of my 96 Bronco. Can anyone give me some info on
where to start? Thanks,

Eric

How big is this thing? Wouldn't it fit with folding the seat down?
Have them unpack it and put it in the back. Leave the box there!

Or , you could have them deliver and set it up if it's that big.

The place I'm buying it from is too far away to deliver (+100 miles).
It is a 61 inch rear projection. Can I take the seat out?

I have a '92 and assume the process is the same since Ford made mostly
cosmetic changes between '92 and '96. By the way, you might be able to get
away with just folding the seat forward instead of removing it completely.
Removing the seat will give you about 10 inches more than folding it forward
if you just have to have the extra space.

The process starts the same, regardless of which option you go with:

Get in the rear cargo area of the truck. Find the lever on the right side of
the seat (might be left, I'm doing this from memory and could be wrong) that
allows the back of the seat to fold forward, flat against the bottom. If
you've never done this before you may have some difficulty finding it.
It's on the side, near where the back and bottom of the seat meet and not
marked in any way. Once the back is folded forward, pull the big release
handle that's on the floor directly behind the back seat. This allows the
entire back seat to fold forward against the front seats.

You now have access to the hinge pins at each front corner of the seat, if you
still need to remove it. The retaining clips on the hinge pins can be removed
by pulling on their rings, then you can remove the two hinge pins. The seat
weighs about 40 or 50 lbs. and I recomend having another person around to get
it out of the truck. Mainly because it's so darn hard to get a decent grip on
it by yourself.

just pop the latch on the rear/middle/bottom of the seat. this will
make the seat pivot forward on the two front hinge pins. with the seat
pivoted forward, look at the hinge pins. there will be two retainer
clips that need to be pulled out, and then the hinge pins just slide
out to the outside. the seat will then come right out.

it's a real no brainer once you flip that latch in the back, and take
a look at it.

hope this helps,

Borrow a pickup or pull the top and flip the seat forward.
