For those interested
The C&D canal connects the delaware river and the cheaspeak bay. ITt runs from
Delaware city Del. to Cheaspeak MD. And is on any Pa, Nj, or Del map.
Directions i would take from Phila would be 95s to 495(65mph limit) then back
on 95s to the Christiana exit follow that straight to 13s and look for the
signs to St. Georges And there are enterences to both sides of the canal on
either side of the old St. Georges Bridge.Well as far as the trails to the
fishing area anyone with any type of car can get there there are two dirt roads
that run along side the canal that are accessable from the small towns boarding
the canal. But there are many roads that branch off, this place is land that
the army corps of engeneers use, there are signs that say no offroad trafic,
but and that is a big but ,everyone offroads there and believe u me there are
some real wild places people off road. There are trails where they are very
muddy upto trails that go up the side of hills that i cannot believe people
even try to do this stuff. It gets crowded on the weekends with people
"playing" and fishing there are piers that go out into the canal to fish off
of, there spaced out along both sides of the canal. As long as you have a
fishing rod no one is going to bother you for offroading it is a really fun
place especially for people like me who live in phila and have very limited
places to go and "Play"

If anyone wants ny more info i will be glad to provide it!

It's people like you that give all four wheelers a bad name. You said
right off that there are signs that say NO OFFROAD DRIVING! ....just
because you see other people out there four wheeling doesn't mean it's legal
to use the land in that way. Why don't you find some other places to go that
are open to four wheelers, before they wind up closing the Canal to
everyone; even the fishermen. There are plenty of places in Pa. and NJ. to
go. Just contact the NJ State Parks Serv. @ 609 292-2520 or the Pa. State
Parks Serv. @ (don't know their # off hand). You could also try to join a
local 4 Wheel drive club, they would definately know where to go.

i agree with you, this is stoopid to tread on posted closed lands. bet this
guy raises cane when the land gets closed off altogether -- forgetting his
trespassing and idiocy contributed to the closing. and you're right in that
he is reinforcing the stereotype of the moron off-roader............

o, plow78, i wheel a lot and exceed the speed limit, lay off the juvenile
name-calling.

Im hoping in the future you can buy some type of device that mounts
under your 4x4 and in the cab there is a HUD(heads up display) and you
can just look at this trespassers tires and four laser beams fire from
under your 4x4 flattening the perpatrators tires.
