Many thanks in advance

I'm about to get one of these myself, if I like it once I've taken a ride/
drive in one...hopefully this weekend. The only thing I think I'm concerned
about is the driver leg room. It's a bit tight. But here you go...
Length: 142.6"
Width: 66"
Max. Height: 77"

Wheelbase: 88 inches (2.23 m)
Length:142.5 in (3.62 m)

1972 Land Rover SIII 88
According to the Land Rover Series III Owners Manual:
Overall length: 142.562 in.
Overall Width: 66 in.
Overall unladen height: 76.875 in.
Wheelbase: 88 in.
Track: 51.5 in.
Turning circle: 38 ft.
3.62m long, 1.69m wide, unladen height, hood up 1.97m. (142.5, 66.6
and 77.5 in).
The turning circle is a nominal 11.6m (38 ft), but this varies with
the tires. My SIII 109 needs about 14.5m with my tires - which are
about to come off in favour of some Goodrich Track Edge 7.5x16 (More
or less the original equipment). :-)
Geir - SIII 109" diesel stationwagon
The chassis length is 134.6 inches (3420mm)
width 60.5 inches (1536mm)
The turning circle is pretty grotty, but I'm not sure exactly how bad.
I've got a 1959 Series II which is still going strong after going 'round the clock' several
times. I *love* it.

We're all in the gutter...but some of us are looking at the stars...

I am interested in getting one of these and have a few questions
that I would like to ask:
- How reliable is the Vortec engine? How long should I expect that
motor to last if it is worked hard occasionally. :)
- How off-road worthy is this thing? I know it is supposed to better
than the standard s-10 (duh!) but how will it compare to say a Toyota
small pickup in terms of overall strength?
- Will I ever start seeing the extended cab version? I mean all the
dealers say that they can't get them yet. Are they being mass produced
yet? From what I've heard, I will have to wait awhile before I will be
able to get one with the Vortec motor and a manual transmission.
Anybody know when they will produce that combo?
Thanks you for any info!
