A couple of people told me to get this along with platnium plugs and a
perfomance wire/cap/rotor set if I want to get the most out of my
engine. I did the ignition, but haven't seen this filter around.
Anyone know where to get it in Canada? Is K&N the brand name or a
description of what it does? Thanks.

K&N is the brand name. It is a reusable high flow air filter. It does make
a difference in air intake and when it gets dirty you just wash it and
re-oil it. I use it in my truck and it is probably the cheapest mod. I made
that really made a difference. Your best bet, for purchase, is mail order.

K&N is the brand name ... it is a performance filter (oiled filter) that
is re-useable by cleaning it and re-oiling it.

E-Mail me the application and I can get you pricing on it.

Also, I suggest avoiding platinum plugs (unless your vehicle is an
import). For more info on this check out my tech article on spark plugs at:
http://www.centuryperformance.com/spark.htm

I also have the other ignition parts available you may need ... first I
need to know year, make and model to be able to properly advise you.

I believe Canadian Tire carries K&N air filters as would many other car
performance stores.

K&N is the brand name.

It's a good idea to get the K&N filter oil and cleaner when you buy the
filter. Regualr motor oil or tranny fluid is too hard to clean out and
can ruin the filter.

Check out this address for K&N Filters.

LeRay

It is a 'million mile' air filter, when dirty, wash (sometime re-apply oil) and re-use.
There are claims of increased horsepower (believe 10% in some cases) and better gas mileage.

I purchased one and have noticed no changes in performance whatsoever.  I doubt seriously if it was worth the purchase price.

I too purchased a K&N and haven't noticed any significant performance or
mpg improvements. However, I didn't delude myself into believing that's
why I bought the K&N. I just think it's a superior air filter that
happens to be good for the life of the vehicle. No more buying
expensive paper air filters is how I convinced myself to buy the K&N.

You obviously don't have enough motor.
Mine makes an all out freaking howl!

Seriously, after just adding a K&N, I notice very little
difference other than the bit of extra noise, although a
couple extra mpg and a few hp would be hard to measure in a
couple trips just yet.
