My company is going to provide me a Montero or Patrol for daily use. I
wanted opinions on which to choose (assume that gas and maintenance is
paid by the company). I have never owned a 4WD before and would
appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

Assuming we are talking full size Montero ( LS or RS ) and Nissan
Pathfinder ( what it is called in U.S. ), then there is no comparison.
MONTERO!!! Larger engine, better amenities, etc. Wish I had a choice like
that to make. Good luck, Alex Freidin.

The Pathfinder is NOT the same thing as a Patrol. The Patrol is much
more like a Toyota Land Cruiser and not available in the US. The
current Patrol will have a much more primitive interior than the
current Montero, but is probably somewhat more capable offroad despite
a slightly longer wheelbase.

Where you live is likely to affect your decision, as availability of
parts and service is likely the most important consideration for you.

I've had my Montero through a lot since I bought it in 1993. It's got
116K mi, and nothing has ever gone wrong with it!!! [Knock on wood]
If they are going to pay for your gas bill, then you are set. That's
my only complaint. It's a gas hog.

I just bought a 97 used Montero LS. Any insight on how this baby handles the
off-road?? I plan on doing some treking around AZ over the next couple of
months.
