I have an 1989 F150, 4.9 engine, manual transmission with air
conditioning.
I am trying to replace the power steering pump. The Ford manual says
I should remove the pump in the adjusting bracket, then remove the
pulley, then remove the pump in order to replace it. The air
conditioner compressor is also bolted to this adjuster bracket. Is it
really necessary to remove the adjusting bracket for the power
steering pump? Is there room to remove the pulley from the power
steering pump shaft without taking the bracket and pump out of the
vehicle? Can anyone offer advice or tips? Thanks,

Brian
