I would appreciate any help in diagnosing this problem:
Three days ago, I noticed the idle go up and down, but after the car
warmed up the problem seemed to go away (for the most part).
Next day the car doesn't start. It cranked but would not turn over.
The car stereo, windows and lights seemed week so I assumed it was my
battery. I jumped the car and it immediately started. I was now sure
it was the battery (or so I thought).
I went to Sears and picked up a new battery. The salesmen tested the
old one, but he said it was good. Not surprised since the battery was
high end when I bought it only 4 years ago, and I let the car run 30
minutes after I jumped it to let the battery recharge.
I didn't want to take a chance so I bought a new battery. Got home,
installed it and the car started immediately. This was Saturday
afternoon (same day) so I parked it and didn't touch it until this
morning.
This morning I went to start it and it hesitated. I thought this was
odd. On the second attempt it started. I set it in drive and went 2
blocks before I noticed the seat belt light go on. I had it properly
buckled, but I refasten and the light went away. One block later I
noticed the car starting to stall, as if choking when I was
accelerating. The seatbelt light goes on again, I barely make it home.
I googled this and got the following:
Throttle Body (What the hell is this?)
O2 sensor
Cracked air hose
Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance.
