For sale a pair of the famous Telefunken ECC803s, diamond bottom, NIB.

The longlife, low distorsion version of the ECC83, 12AX7 or CV4004.

Both tubes are absolutely identical, same internal construction, same
emission and identical systems within each tube.
Fully working pair matched,i tested with my terrasonde analyzer them
working on my revox g36 moded by tim paravicini each channel has the
same response curve this stuff is really cool for recording and
reproduction circuits like audiophile amps/pres and tube recorders and
any other use of preamp tubes also the best for pro audio stuff that
use valves.

The ECC803s feature grid frame construction, different from all other
ECC83s and sound extremely pure and extended with very good bass
extension and incredible highs clarity and great depth of the sound.

Technically impossible for construction to affect 'bass extension'. Or the mythical 'depth'.
Unlikely to affect highs either unless it reduces internal capacitances.

The usual audiophool lies.

Sound is distorsion.
HiFi is about exact reproduction.

Is it possible that a ECC83-type tube that had enough more amplification
than spec, and thus have enough more open loop gain that they would actually
have less distortion and wider bandwidth in say, the classic double-triode
RIAA equalizer?

Oh and this is interesting !
http://reviews.ebay.com/NOS-Tesla-ECC803-S-Tubes-Are-NOT_W0QQugidZ10000000005113324

"There seems to be MANY ECC803-s tubes being sold as NOS Tesla which are, in
fact, re-labeleled new production JJ tubes. The following is the 'caveat' from
one very credible Internet supplier:

" A premium quality tube that replaces any 12AX7 / ECC83 type. We purchased
these tubes on pretense that they were NOS Tesla ECC803-S tubes. We discovered
that they are in fact relabeled JJ Electronic ECC803-S tubes, not Tesla." "

Life is a compromise.
I mean amplifiers should not sound.
