This is in a cast metal case, burgundy in color, and the brand name is
"Plus Sound"
It has a modular chassis design, with a preamp chassis situated closest to
the front, so the know shafts will protrude through the faceplate, and then
plugged in to that are two separate power amp modules. It is designed to
be used with either one, or two power amp modules. Each of the three chassis
has its own power supply onboard. They mate with plugs that look like old
tube sockets, so that when they are butted together they are electrically
connected, and the holes line up in the case , so they may be secured to a
rail.
The preamp has all of the controls on it, as well as the inputs (4), and
the speaker output terminals, which has C,4,5.3,8,16,250,600. There are
wire straps to connect to either the 16, or the 8, depending on whether one
has one or two power amp modules installed.
The preamp has level knobs for 4 inputs, plus volume, bass, treble, as well
as a separate monitor control. The tube lineup is:
Preamp: 3-7B4
1-7F7
1-6J5
The power amps each have their own individual onboard power supplys,
transformers, and very hefty looking output transformers.
Poweramps 4-6V6 each amp...for a total of 8
2-6X5 each amp...for a total of 4
The amps are all internallly fused, and have internal settings for line
voltage over a narrow range. (no 220). Just high and low 110v.
Any info about this piece would be greatly appreciated.
I wonder if the power amps (considering that there are two of them) would
be of enough quality to be used as hifi monoblocks?
Please email me with your comments, as well as post to the group.
Thanks,
