Hi,

I am in the process of designing a 845 PSE amplifier. Can anyone comment on
the sonic quality of Bartolucci transfomers? Their web site give good
description, and they have a good selection of different types of
transformers. I want to use Tango but they don't have the design that I am
looking for. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Michael:

I built a very successful version of the opt transformer coupled
Euridice linestage using 5842 valves and Bartolucci Type C step-down
transformers. These are a double C core design, wound for this
application.

The linestage is quite transparent so I can't really say much about the
transformers apart from that - they are capable of good bass, shimmering
highs and very pleasing midrange.

Bartolucci can wind your transformers to order so if there's something
special you need, they can do it. High quality finish (nice wrinkled
black potting cans with generous leads, copper mounting posts & nuts)
and the price is ok too. Shipping was a bit expensive as they weighed
4.2 kilos each.

Michael, I used Bartolucci's for a 300b amp. I found them to be wonderful -
nice open midrange, good bass and HF extensioin was excellent. THey also look
nice... Steve Brown

I heard people say that tango sounds thin.
Jim at www.vt52.com uses Bartolucci in many designs.

I think that they are well worth the money, especially for power supply
applications

Hi,
I've used Bartolucci to custom wind a power transformer. They do good
looking work and excellent performance; dead quiet and all within spec and
reasonable price. I got mine through Audiokit who provided excellent
service and even emailed me a picture of the finished product before they
shipped it to me.
