1. Are all the TV-7 models dynamic mutual conductance tube
testers?

If not, which models are not.

2. What is the TV-7 series of lettered models produced for the
military.

3. What was the newest model?

4. Which of the above models have test charts available for the
following tubes?
6550
7027A
7591
7199
12DW7

I do realize that one can develop their own tube test specs
with a reference book, but I would prefer to stay away if
possible as I am a novice.

Thanks for whatever advice you care to offer.

1. All are dynamic mutual testers

2. What do you mean by this? All TV-7s were produced for the military

3. The TV-7D was the latest model. The suffixes represent design
improvements to the equipment, not radically different sets.

4. It does not have a 'chart' rather a test data book. The one dated
January 1962 (came with both a TV-7B I had and a TV-7D I presenty have)
has info for all but the 6550, but you could figure that one out yourself
fairly easily. Its the book not the TV-7 model which counts. You can get
copies of the book from AES.

Dear Lance,

All TV-7,TV-7A,TV-7B,TV-7D tube testers are mut. cond style testers as
well as all TV-2,TV-3 and TV-10 style
testers.
The "B" and "D" models will have charts for the above.
I have more info on these items if you are interested.

Hi,

just checked my manual for my tester; it's a TV-7D/U.

LPM>6550 7027A 7591 7199 12DW7

It's got all the tubes listed, except the 6550. It's dated
January 1962.

Don't worry about specs, you don't need absolute readings in
the first place, but will use it to match tubes. Then relative
readings are fine. Calibrating these things is far from easy.

Oh, whoever needs it:

The transconductance table of the TV-7D/U

corrsponding value in microhmos

meter reading Range B Range C Range D Range E(F)

0 0 0 0 0
10 250 500 1250 2500
20 500 1000 2500 5000
30 750 1500 3750 7500
40 1000 2000 5000 10000
50 1250 2500 6250 12500
60 1500 3000 7500 15000
70 1750 3500 8750 17500
80 2000 4000 10000 20000
90 2250 4500 11500 22500
100 2500 5000 12500 25000
110 2750 5500 13750 27500
120 3000 6000 15000 30000

Valid of course only for calibrated units (no fun without the
sweat!)

Is this table also applicable to the TV-7B/U ?

The TV-7D book has a setting for the KT-88 which can be used for the 6550.
