IS A 6CG7 AN OK SUB FOR A 6922?

I have a Fourier amplifier that uses a 6922as a phase splitter and auto
bias controler. The amp presently has a 6CG7 in each position in place of
the 6922s. My question is this. Are the 6CG7s an acceptable substitute for
6922s, what are the differences between the tubes. The amp sounds great,
but should I put 6922s in?

P.S. I have never been able to get the auto bias circuit to adjust to its
proper 85 volt setting.....only goes to about 60 volts, but all else sets ok
including bias.

The 6CG7 is a very different tube electrically than the 6922. You
may want to go back to 6922's to get the circuit to bias up properly.

6CG7 COULD be used to sub for 6922, depnds on circuit. This is probably
(again, depends on circuit) why amp won't bias right. You might have to
change some
resistors to make amp bias right with 6CG7/6FQ7, I'd try both & see what
sounds best.
There's lots of tubes with same pinout as 6922, some interchange directly,
others don't
(again, depends on circuit) Check tube manual (GE Essential
Characteristics) for
details.
Yeah we've got 6922's, tube manuals, etc. for sale
