I managed to get two NOS ones a while ago, but I'm concerned about long
term support. I'm happy using Sovtek 5881's as outputs (they work really
well in my setup), and am looking forward to the Svetlana 6L6, but
probably need to pick up a few spares of the 12BH7.
Any suggestions much appreciated.
Jeff
I find it hard to believe they only had used ones at AES....bummer. I have a
good supply at the moment of NOS in original box for $13 each.

Have you called Antique Electronic Supply? When they put a "(u)" in the
catalog in means that they routinely have used tubes *in addition* to
new tubes of that type.
I like the 12BH7 and have not had trouble finding plenty of cheap NOS ones.
However, if you really can't find any, a 12AU7 may work well in your
circuit. Anybody have more (any) experience with the MC240?

I think I jumped the gun, you and a couple of other people pointed out my
misread of the latest catalog I got. Ooops. They still have 12BH7's, or so the
guy said. I've also gotten feedback from a number of people who have them for
sale, so thankfully they're still around. I'll be picking up some spares
regardless though.
I looked up the 12BH7A on a web page that lists tube info
(http://www.aros.net/~tboy/ampage/tube_data/vtd.html) and the 12BH7 is listed
as a TV horizontal and vertical sweep amplification tube, not an audio tube.
Weird. Sure sounds fine in the Mac amp.
Do you know any other amps that use this tube?
Thanks to all who responded, e-mail and newsgroup! Rec.audio.tubes may be only
a year old, but it's the best of the rec.audio groups in my humble opinion.
