The K series JBL assembly is the *best* for electric guitar or bass.

Sorry to top post, but one thing people are missing in the REAL
D120/K120/FFF issue, that unless I'm too stoned, the REAL OLD FART
120's had a 3" voice coil. Folks love the 2" (or less) UK stuff,
but what MADE that OFDays(.com) 120 WAS the 3" VC. The last real
folks at Standel tried..REALLY TRIED..BIG TIME TRIED..to get JBL
to wake the flock up and do it right. WHAT IS EVERYBODY'S PROBLEM??
There is so much real time, no BS history/mojo/fantasy that would sell
and BLOW AWAY THE DOORS OF THE IMPORTERs, it's like money in the bank.
Celestion tried it with the POWERCELL speaker that Marshall had all
rights to, but Marshall (Rose Morris) tried to replace a 4 12 cab with
a ONE 12 weird shaped/horned cab. It did not work. Sad, the speaker
was flocking killer. I bought a ton of them off Angela's for $30 ea,
only have a few. Weber has a recone kit for them. Clips great..
Made the JBL K120 look like a cheap Utah out of Radio shack..

anonymous troll is entirely else. I would not know Ted Weber from the

That was what made the Altec 12"'s so great. overkill mounts, and 3" VC
(I believe, I think later ones )non gray) were more then 3". Could be wrong.
I *DO* know, I have a SVT stack with 2/4-`12' "FACTORY" Altec V4 cabs dat flocking
KILL for overall sound volume, and clip point needed. I will say,the best combo
amp I ever heard was a BF TWin with JBL anything's. J. Winter packed SF Twins
with Altec. JK of the Airplane used 120s. We spoke in KEENE NH during the
multi tour, JA/JS/Hot Tuna/Starship horror. He ends the last song, I was behind
the amp, dumb ?? I asked was: "..JBL's. ever try Altec's..?..". Mo fool me.
JK stands there, 355 in hand, describing the "..flap bottom.." the jBL's had
that any Altec wanted. .."..we have a garage of Altecs. No bottom flap.."
Bass player just nods..and agrees.. I listen to such people..I've met them all...

Those who have dealt with the Celestion PowerCell, know it just didn't make QC
enough. Awesome idea..a UK/JBL.. I know of 12" PC's doing dog shows as we speak.

Amps/cab's sucked that time, yes, it was the end of Rose Morris and DB and
all that rot. RM really tried to retain the Marshall MoJo. Korg failed then.
At Pr1mo, we got 5 AC30's with Powercells that went to some 'loser' (as the
brass at Pr1mo said ) named MC...? He had a few hits <chuckle) and loved em.
Celestion just couldn't sustain the demand. and RM was 180 days behind..hehehehe

Yes, JBLs were better built, and that is why the RM era Marshall's with da
PowerCell's never made it. Speakers weren't built well, buyer was broke,
70% ot the PowerCell's coming to the USA were 'bass' voiced units..NOT guitar.
..wrong item imported badly to the wrong buyers with $$$$$. Today, those 1-12"
PowerCell Marshall cabs are worth $1k USD. Even without the odd mounting holes
of the PowerCell's. Yup...I made good $$$ making Twin amp frontbaffels.

I'd hand any speaker to TW to fix before I tried to do it, and I've re-coned
over 2000 speakers in my life. TW is a class act who knows his shit OFDays.com wise.

speakers for Fender, and seem to be long gone..
The Dual Spider idea was hard on guitar speakers
to break up easy, but it made for a great bass speaker.

Really, FWIW, I agree. One time my small parts (resistors, caps, switches,
etc) came with out washers for the pots. I emailed him 6 weeks later
because I didn't get around to checking the order until I stared building.
He put them in the mail and I had them in 3 days, no questions asked. As
for the kits, I don't think he makes an attempt to hide the fact that his
stuff is "economy" level. Still, my impression is that you get a decent
sounding amp. If someone has a beef with a vendor, he ought to state the
facts, not hide behind an alias and implicate the offender with inuendo.
The facts will speak for themselves.
