Chenchen
Hi Chenchen,
I was just wondering which value of Infinicap you are using? And what is
your preamp?
I used the .1uF 450V Infinicap in my Dynaco PAS-3X preamp phono section,
and I think they are very accurate and neutral sounding. I've got a pair
of MIT .22uF film and foil capacitors in the line stage, and I'm not sure
I like them very much. Some people have complained that they create
midrange harshness, and I'm having a little trouble with that, so I think
they may be the culprit.
Unfortunately, TRT doesn't make a .22uF Infinicap except in a 630V
version, which is too big for the circuit board space. (I like to keep my
work neat and not use parts that don't fit.) I'm thinking of using the
Hovland .22uF/400V capacitors instead, but if TRT is making more values, I
would give them a try.
I also got a sample of Infinicaps--they sent me the 2uF version, which I
used in place of the 1uF capacitor found in the PAS-3X. I think they
sound very nice, too.
Overall, I think the Infinicaps have a very "dry" sound. It would make
sense according to TRT's literature, specifically the claim that they
don't induce any echo or delay into the signal by having a very short
signal path.

>> the document mention this is called "Single Ended Triode InifiCap", means it sounds pretty much like a single-end-triode.
I picked up a 6B4G, and listened to it, it was silent. This has to be one of the stupidest claims I have ever heard a marketing wiz=
ard make up about a product. Why not say it sounds like one hand clapping! Now if they would say it sounds like a WE 300B in a Mod=
el 91 amp matched to Lowther PM6A's in bigfun cabs, the I would pick up the cap, put it to my ear, and I bet it would be silent.
I do like the idea of a short signal path though, and since many SET amps are based on the short signal path thats the point.
Finally, how do I get me some of them sample caps???
