I got a great deal on a pair of AR 5 speakers at a tag/garage/yard sale.
Yes, $5 for the pair. Of course, the cabinets are all scratched, but the mid
and tweeters still work! They woofers too! These speakers have the same
tweeters and mids as the AR 3a, but with a 10" woofer. Similar to the 2ax's I
foolishly sold 20 odd years ago. Needless to say, the woofer surrounds,
although intact, are gummy, and will fall apart if touched. Are butyl rubber
surrounds or foam the way to go? Any sources out there? Thanks,
-Don

@rwcrnsc51.ops.asp.att.net:

Whatever the original material was is what I would use. Using another
material is going to change the response of the woofers and unless you
have a habit of winning the powerball, never to the better. (:>)
