Basic Hybrid SACD Questions

I've been out of the loop for a while and don't know anything about
hybrid SACD discs. I understand that, if labeled "hybrid," they can be
played in any CD player. Two questions: (1) Is there any improvement
in sound (I have a CAL Audio Ikon MkII), (2) Does playing a hybrid disk
in a normal player in any way harm, or at least tax, the player?
