No info on these specifically. However, I would recomend getting speakers
from a "speaker" manufacturer

Not for Yamaha we're not. I was just stating that Yamaha *can* and *have*
made some exceptional speakers. i.e. NS1000M's

I nearly wrote exactly the same thing (but without the trailing dots).
Yamaha have made plenty of decent speakers over the years, for both
studio and home use. One of the few companies that is a jack of all
trades, from guitars to electronics to motorbikes. Not that everything
they do is great of course (before some mutant comes on here and
gleefully points it out).

Has the original poster looked on the Audioreview website ?

Mike.

Pardon me for butting in, but as I recall those NS1000s sold for almost two
grand a pair in the '80s and they stopped making them years ago. The NS120s
and 150s are outsourced and are of much lower cost and quality. Yamaha has
recently earned some well-deserved praise for their econo-subs, but their
sats leave much to be desired, IMHO.

They *were* a fine speaker, but so were many made by companies which no
longer can be bothered to try - KEF springs to mind.

KEF still tries. Read any reveiws of the R109 'Maidstone' ? (Excuse me if
I've got the names/models muddled).

I still haven't heard anything that convinces me to change my old R105
Series 2 's , and I haven't even done a re-cap job on them yet !

Why don't you check out NS200? Affordable and they have won many "best buy"
awards.
