Soundforge keeps scanning for VST plugins that were removed on loading

I have Soundforge 5 and for grins tried the demo of Soundforge 9, but
uninstalled it.

Soundforge 9 came with a bunch of Antares VST plugins, but after
removing it, now SF 5 keeps giving me a series of "not found" VST
adapter errors when loading, which I just have to click through to
finally bring up SF5. It runs normally once it's loaded. The folder
the error references no longer even exists.

I tried uninstalling SF5, using a registry cleaner to get rid of all
related registry entries and reinstalling, it still has the same
problem.

There's a VST Adapter that's part of Cakewalk, could that have
something to do with this error?

Thanks

I assume you deleted the Soundforge folder after uninstalling it. A couple
of other things to look at:

In C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\ there are some hidden directories.
In Folder Options--View check "Show hidden files and folders". Take a look
at the folder called Application Data. It may contain a profile that was
left behind. Delete it. Confusingly, there is another folder by the same
name inside the folder "Local Settings", also in the "User Name" folder. I
would check it out as well.

I think that may be the problem. Run the Cakewalk adapter and make sure
the deleted plugins aren't listed.

Do NOT delete the Application Data folder as this forger suggests.

Steve, I am not saying to delete the Application Data folder.

Programs sometimes create files, or folders, in these folders that are not
properly deleted in an uninstall.

Just to be clear, DO NOT DELETE ANY FOLDERS unless they were created by
Soundforge!

No Sound Forge has ever come with Antares plugins. Was this an official
download, or have you somehow inadvertently got hold of somebody's
'unofficial' installer that has scrambled your system ?

If all is kosher, delete the Sound Forge 9.0 folder in Program Files/Sony
Setup, reinstall SF9, then re-de-install it.

Maybe de-install and re-install 5 too, ie get all versions off before
reinsatlling the one you want.

This one did. Came from the Soundforge site.

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/trials/soundforge

However, I seem to have fixed it. The "phantom" plugins weren't listed
under the Cakewalk VST adapter, but I did a "re-scan existing plugins"
and that seems to have cured the problem.

I'll amend that. Not 100% sure if they came with the download or if I
got them elsewhere and their ghost just lingered after the fact.
