I've tried it on several occasions, and hated it. Awful compression,
useless de-essing and gating. In my opinion, the MDC 2001 is a piece of
shit.
My 0.02$.
Scoot
I bought one a couple years ago and regret it. It sits unused in my
rack at the moment. Compression is so-so, gate is worse than average,
de-essing is useless as far as I can tell. Paid $350 or so for the
thing and my $250 Behringer Composer is far superior. Wish I had the
$350 back. You can nearly get a dbx 1066 for that (and can almost get
two Composers - price on those is down below $220 now.)
I committed a cardinal sin with the ART MDC: didn't listen to it before
buying. If you're even semi-serious about buying one try it out
extensively before you close the deal.
Good luck.

I have had one for about five years. It sounds ok and works well. but because
there are no independent controls for using the channels independently it ends
up being used for one channel. there are a lot more choose from these days. The
DBX166A goes for about the same money and I like them a lot I have 4.

My studio partner has one and, along with an old ART graphic eq, it
collects dust in what we call the "ART" Deptartment.
