Go with the Crest - you'll be much happier with it than any of
the Powerbase series.
I would recommend Crown over any brand power amp.

A Micro-Tech, Macro-Tech, or even a DC300, yes. A Powerbase,
no.

With what other brands do you have direct experience?
Just curious... A whole lot of professional PA work gets done by with
both brands.

Well, not _all_ Crown stuff. Both companies have made some very fine amps
and also some real clunkers. If you think everything Crown has made is
great, just listen to the D-60 series. On the other hand, the Macro-Tech
amplifier sounds amazingly clean even if you don't consider the massive power
output.

And what about the new K2? It certainly looks interesting.

I have tested the Macro-tech 2400, yes it sounds good, but doesn't like
to work with 2 ohms load (below 400 hz) ! And more, don't place it in
flight-case, overheat !
And now, i've bought CREST CA9 end CA12, it's great ! Very good sound,
hi dynamic and no problem with 2 ohms ! And no problem with heat.
And more rugeable on the road. Now, i think i'll try the new CA18.
That is definitely your opinion. I would take a MA2400 over a CA9 or
12 any day of the week. To say that the Crest is a more rugged amp
for road use is insane.

Then why do so many touring sound companies use Crest, then?
