Nope. Well, sorta at the show...had a great conversation with William
Putnam Jr. The stuff looks right, but I haven't heard it in combat.
From what I understand, it'll hit the street around the first quarter of
2000.

I'm sure there is. Right now, the word I've heard so far is "silence",
but something tells me that when these things are ready to hit the
street...you'll know how much they'll be.

My guess is they'll come in about where the used ones are sitting...why
not go for the throat?

I spoke to them today...they're already starting to dribble out the
1176's...the prices will probably be about $2,500 for the 1176 and
$3,500 for the LA-2A...the LA-2A is apparently going to be a real pain
in the ass to source all the parts for...which means they won't be
cheap.

I got the lit on the Teletronix LA-2A but no there's no price on it,

First of all, in '87 they were well into the silver
faced/transformerless designs, which cut a significant portion of the
build expense...second, unless you can find Sherman & Peabody, and
convince them to let you borrow the "Way Back Machine" for a couple
hours you're kinda gonna be stuck payin' what they're askin' if you want
the units. It looks like we will be...in conversation with the UA folk
yesterday, it didn't seem like they were convinced that we're cool
enough to be dealers for their stuff...so I guess we'll see.

First time I walked in a saw my kids watching Ren and Stimpy I didn't
think much of it,(they were being rather mellow at the time). Then I
started watching it with them a few times and realized how damn funny
they were, but I wasn't sure I wanted my kids to watch it anymore.

I have small children, and unlike alot of parents that view Nickelodeon

run, I actually try to spend some time with my kids and monitor what
they're exposed too...that's how I fill in the time between when

Actually both girls got the pleasure of watching daddy spread some
asshole's teeth all over a parking lot once. He hit [closed fist] his
girlfriend/wife in front of them...I introduced him to a 1" OD pipe that
has the last 4" threaded...I then explained to my daughters that it's
not right when men hit women...this NG however, is way too offensive in
nature for them.

I'm baaaack, assuming that this posts. Rather than post a "testing", I
figure I'll bellyache about my computer woes. I have been in the Seventh
Layer of Computer Hell. My trusty Pentium 120 finally took a dump, and
Win95 wouldn't load. Seeing as I basically know NOTHING about computers, I
took it to the local tech. He couldn't get Win95 or Win98 loaded on what
*was* my C:\ drive, and had to instead load Win98 on another HD instead.
Fortunately, everything that was on my C:\ drive appears to be intact,
although I can't get a lot of it installed.

See, this is the nightmare....since the Win98 on my NEW C:\ drive was not an
upgrade, a lot of the stuff I've had to reinstall, although a lot of it I've
managed to just simply move over from the OLD C:\ drive and maybe screw with
those little dll files (with the help of a friend on the other end of the
phone).

I can't get SAW+ to work, although I can finally get it to load now.
Actually, more accurately, I can't get my AdB Multi!Wav Digital Pro card to
make sounds because I have no idea what I am doing. I downloaded new
drivers, but stilllllllllll.......can't seem to get it going. There are
apparently three of these cards, and I think I chose the wrong chip
spec.........but mannnn, I've been at this for a while, and I really am
happy that I even got the damn email/Eudora/internet thing and Adobe
PhotoShop going. I can't get MicroSoft Front Page to load all the older
stuff from the C drive or get one of the HDs to
work..........aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

So I am on vacation, was looking forward to some rest after going through
Master's Degree Hell....you know, a few days of nothing to do and sleeping
late, and now I have been geeking on this damn computer for hours.

Hmmmm -- I'll have to figure out how to get this thing to put in my
signature file later on. But for right now.....

Nothing about a Mac or any other computer will prevent a hard drive from
dying, nor cure the need/insistence-by-publishers for copy protection.
Of these realities is one aspect of computer hell constructed, Mac or
otherwise.

Win95 Degeneration? Hmm, I wonder if I had a "degeneration" problem
on my laptop with Win3.1. Last trip I was on, my AOL program refused
to accept settings for tone dialing and dial-9-for-an-outside-line,
and wouldn't let you edit dialing setups once they were entered.
AOL's tech support told me to delete a file and let it get re-created,
but that didn't work.

Then they told me to re-install the program. I actually tried that
and the re-installed version didn't work at all. It took two passes
with an un-installer to get rid of enough junk so that the original
version would work as well as it could. But I fixed it for good
yesterday. It's the office's computer, and I'm retiring next week, so
I reformatted the disk and turned it in. Sometimes you just have to
take a hockey stick to 'em.

According to two techs that I spoke to, they said that over time, Win 95
(presumably due to turning on and off, usage, and other weirdness) will
develop problems (errors). Win 95, in the final week before it pooped out
altogether, did start loading slower and slower.

I appear to have fixed the email/news problem, finally taking the old
parameters off and loading the new ones in. Still can't get the soundcards
or MicroSoft Front Page to work the way I want them to (uh, with the
soundcards, that would be to make sounds! <g>).

The hard drive is a hardware failure, that will happen.

However, the preconception that software needs to be closed and limited
is only an *idea.* At this moment every program I use is under the GPL,
or at least free to use. This, of course, includes my operating system.
