I just want to make sure I 'm not misunderstanding.

Did Ashlee Simpson win Billboard New Artist Of The Year?

Are you kidding me? I couldn't imagine how this happens. Are these
award truely based on the public's opinion?

What's really goin' on?

"Ashlee Simpson was met with boos and cheers as she accepted the female new
artist of the year award. Simpson, the younger sister of Jessica Simpson,
ended her speech saying that if people ever feel nervous they can do a
"Texas jig," referring to her impromptu dance during an October appearance
on NBC's Saturday Night Live, when an audio mistake made it clear she had
been lip-synching.Ashlee Simpson was met with boos and cheers as she

That's Jessica, who also sings quite badly, but in a different way.

Her "very odd" body jerks while she sings is what annoys me most. Reminds
me of John Belushi's imitation of Joe Cocker (?). Looks sort of like a
horse straining it's neck out to bite a swinging carrot or something.

I'm sure that, if this were the decisive criterium, J-Lo would win
hands down! "And now, for the hugest female ass award....."

No surprise here:

Billboard Music Awards Strike Flat Note in Ratings

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Ratings tumbled for the Billboard Music Awards,
which Fox aired Dec. 8 from Las Vegas.

According to Nielsen Media Research, the 15th annual two-hour broadcast
drew 6.9 million U.S. viewers. It was the lowest-rated Billboard Music
Awards since Nielsen began tracking the show's ratings in 1991. In
comparison, the 2003 event scored 9.8 million viewers. The record is
held by the 1992 show, which drew 15 million viewers.

At least Simpson wasn't nominated for the new artist grammy:

"BEST NEW ARTIST: Los Lonely Boys, Maroon 5, Joss Stone, Kanye West,
Gretchen Wilson"

BUT, look what did show up:

"PRODUCER OF THE YEAR, NON-CLASSICAL: T Bone Burnett (Cold Mountain -
Soundtrack); Rob Cavallo (American Idiot - Green Day); Jimmy Jam & Terry
Lewis (Janet Jackson, India.Arie, Usher); Tommy LiPuma (Al Jarreau,
Diana Krall); John Shanks (Ashlee Simpson (news), Kelly Clarkson (news),
Sheryl Crow, Hilary Duff, Robbie Robertson (news), Alanis Morissette (news)"

So, I guess polishing this turd is worthy of a Grammy. :(

The Billboard show had two problems: 1.) Faux is poison to anyone
but right wing cranks and Simpsons fans, and right wing cranks don't
watch pop music shows, and 2.) a total dearth of talent except for
Wonder.

Think the industry clowns will get the message? I don't think so.

Yeah, but a polished turd is still a turd. Maybe AMPAS has a special
"toilet media producer of the year" award?

Yes. She can use it as a sex toy. She sure as hell doesn't deserve a
grammy!
