Have tried unsuccessfully to get thru to Alaesis. My old blackface adat
needs repair. Very audible distorion in record/playback of new tracks.
Previously recorded tracks play fine. Have switched tapes & cleaned the
unit, yet I still get the right indicator dot on solid. Anyone know of
an authorized service center within 200 (or so) miles of Syracuse, NY?
The alesis website stated none available within 500 miles. Thanks in
advance for this or any other suggestion.

Hi Steve,
I just had a Adat XT headstack replaced at EPR Electronics in Middletown. They
are the closest repair shop around. I ended up mailing it out to them-cost me
about $20 to mail it from Mexico, NY. They seemed to do good work, fast turn
around and nice to deal with on the phone.
Their number is (914) 343-1237.
Good Luck!!!!

You can help by turning off your caps lock...

These days, who cares about distance? There's been a heap of
(deserved) praise here in the past week for Studio Maintenance Center in
San Rafael CA. Why not send it there? It's bound to be cheaper (and
possibly even faster) than driving 200 miles.

You might want to get a working CAPS LOCK key for your computer.

In fact, SMC is the largest ADAT service/repair center in the world.
They've massaged approximately 4,000 ADATs. I think they might know what
they're doing. <Mg> = "Mega-grin"

Maybe it's just me, dude, but someone who can't even find the "caps
lock" key on their computer input device is not someone to whom I would
send _my_ pro audio gear. Think it over. Look down, right in front of
you. Yeah, that's the ticket...a little to the left...
