Hi gang,
i'm in need of a good tech to go through our custom Neve mutant 5106
NNS series film console that was somewhat messed up in the World Trade
Center disaster. Part of a power supply is toasted, and there's havoc in
the master section - it sat flicking on and off and overheating covered
in dust and ash while we were locked out of the neighbourhood for three
weeks. Guys who are into Neve 80 series consoles are an easy catch, but
it's harder to find people who really know the insides of a 5106/5116.
Hot Sound mentioned an ex-Neve guy named Steve Lacey who was s'posed to
rock, but then wouldn't give his phone number :-(.

Anyone know anyone who could help?

I haven't worked on one in years, but if there is a power supply problem,
the FIRST thing to check out is the crowbar SCR before doing anything
else. Tantalums go bad and the SCR goes bad and that's about it.

If it's still broke by the time the AES show comes around and I'm in
town, I'll come over and take a look at it, but I'm pretty rusty....
