Hi all,
There is a review by Sam Tellig about Musical Fidelity A2 in recent
issue of Stereophile (I forgot which issue). I am very interested in
this low priced ($700?) classic-tube-like class A integrated amp
(according to ST). I can not find a local dealer who carry Musical
Fidelity stuff. So, is there anyone in this group having a chance to
audition this amp? Could you share your experience? How dose it
compare to same price range of Audiolab, Arcam and Julida? Is the
power output of 25WRMS abit too low? How is the reliability of Musical
Fidelity products? Thank you.

I believe the only USA dealer for Musical Fidelity is Audio Advisor.
And AA is their first dealer in the US for several years.

It has a very warm, rich sound. It will remind you somewhat of
a tube amp. There's more low bass punch than you might suspect
from a 25wpc amp, but it's a bit warm in the mid-bass. Nice for
some types of music, but not totally accurate to the source.
The mids have nice harmonics, voices are clear and pleasant,
although a bit deeper than on other amps.

I consider the sound to be very different from Audiolab.
Perhaps not quite as warm as the Jolida - and with a little
more low bass punch. If you're into tubes, I suspect you'd
find the Jolida's midrange to be a bit sweeter.

Depends on your speakers, your room, and your listening
preferences.

Below average, particularly for their Class A amps. They
run very hot and parts don't have the same life expectancy
as in other amps. I've spoken to a long-time authorized
MF repair shop and been told the repair incident rate is
2-3 times the other amps they handle. The problem rate
increases as the amp gets a few years on it.
