I'm considering upgrading the center channel to the CC-350
for better quality sound. Is it any good?
I realize that the recommended center for the Titans is the CC-150
but I want to go with the CC-350 in case I upgrade the mains
in the future. I also realize that timbre matching is important
(but probably overrated according to some in SGHT).
My rationale is that I will probably get more satisfaction from a
decent, good quality center channel than from timbre matching a lesser
speaker.
My old Titans are rated at 88dB room sensitivity whereas the CC-350 is
rated at 90 dB. Does this mean that it will play louder given the same
power?
My system is a Yamaha 2090 with 100W to L/C/R.
You can never overlook the importance of a good center speaker, especially
for 5-Channel sound.
The timbre match for your system is excellent, even with the Titans.
Actually, if you have a good quality Sub,
smaller main fronts aren't quite as important.
Kevin
I totally agree. The mains really don't carry that much info anyways and I
really think you're much better off getting the cc350 vs. the 150 as long as
you don't mind the money.
In answer to your second question, yes, the center will play louder. What you
need to do is use a SPL meter with the receiver's(or a CD's)test tones and
bring down the level on the center to match the mains. Or you can just do it
by ear as I usually keep the center down a couple dB from equal level.
;)

What is considered a good price in Canada for the CC-350?
Anyone know what list price is and what the dealer gets it for?
Anything lower than 340 $CAN is a good price.

Are you sure? 340 seems ok, but not great. I was quoted $320 cdn over
the phone. I suppose that if I went in person to negotiate, the price
would even be lower. Just wondering how much room the dealer has to
move on the price?
Yes you are right, i heard 319 as well, but also 350 and 337.
MSRP is 399.
(all $CAN)
Personally I think dealers who offer it for 320 are really desperate
for sales. (I heard they get it for 300, i might have heard BS
though.)
Speakers
Fronts - Paradigm Monitor 7's - 1 - 1" Tweeter, 2 - 6.5" Midrange's
Centre - Paradigm CC350 - 1 - 1" Tweeter, 2 - 6.5" Midrange's
Rears - Paradigm Mini Monitors - 1 - 1" Tweeter, 1 - 6.5" Midrange
Subwoofer - Energy ES10 - 1 - powered 10"
Cheers!

Hehehe
Well, you are way off on what 'they' get it for. It would probably
make you sick if you saw the actual dealer cost on this, and other
paradigm items.

Ok, let's put it this way.
Around what price range should one pay for the CC-350 in western
Canada and know that they didn't get gouged? Also, what is a good
price for the CC-450? So far, I've been quoted $300 and $400 CDN
respectively.
Would it be half of the MSRP, like most wholesale/retail markups? I know that
computers have a really low markup of 10%, but I'm not sure of other
electronics.

Its a STEAL at $300. You won't find it any lower.

Errrrr, silly me. $400 for the reference? Probably still a good deal.
Over $500 MSRP on my last list

You mean $300 is a steal for the CC-350 or the CC-450?
