....., that they put up with the shit-storm unleashed by Trump and the NRA?
I woke early this morning and thought about my last visit to the US as I
lay in bed. Seeing armed guards in banks, casinos and other money
oriented areas was not altogether surprising. What did take me by
surprise was the presence of a guard (Presumably armed) at the Mrs Sees
store on Sepulveda. This was 1993. I assume little has changed.
Here's the thing: I've visited a number of banks in my own city (Sydney)
many times over the years. I've never noticed an armed security guard
(though I guess some banks have them). NONE of the banks in my local
area (10km radius) have security guards. In fact, I decided to visit the
main branch of the bank I use daily a few years back. It is a beautiful
building, built in 1916. The interior is particularly magnificent.
Anyway, my partner and I wandered in and we were greeted by a man in a
nice suit, who asked if we required assistance. I explained that, as
part owners of the bank (we hold shares in the bank), we were there to
examine our assets. He smiled and then proceeded to give us a tour of
the bank, explaining aspects of the place and concluded with a tour of
the basement vault area. Great day.

No armed security guards.
Australia is a great place to live. No fear of being shot to death. No
fear that our children will be killed in their schools. Women are able
to secure a safe abortion on demand.
America is fucked. I feel sorry for you guys (well, those of you who are
sane) and I hope Trump is locked up for his crimes, though I get the
feeling that half the population is beyond help.
