Kenwood Subwoofer: SW-300 - what's your experience/opinion

While walking through a local audio store, I decided to check out the
subwoofers on display (I'm trying to complete my home theater system). The
store manager came out and said the Kenwood SW-300 was a popular seller for
powered subwoofers. It has a 8" speaker and a 100 watt amp. Can't remember the
other specs offhand.
Would appreciate any feedback with regards to this model or any
suggestions for a better powered subwoofer in this price range (<600$).

this is a little late but that sub was better than than the 800 dollar Velodyne at the time
