Let his own ears answer his own question. He will do himself a big favor
getting rid of his Polks.
For a little less money, get a pair of KEF Q-series speakers. The KEF Q50
I won sounds as good as the LS90 but doesn't cost a fortune like the LS90

That's why I got a pair of KEF Q50's instead. <g>
Let's compare fortunes to fortunes here. How much are the KEF Q50s and
what is in them? My Polk LS90s (rosewood finish) were $1100 and they have
four 6 inch cones and one tweeter.

IMHO there are speakers with one 6 inch cone and tweeter that sound
a lot better than the Polk LS90. And quite a few with two 6 inch cones
and tweeter. And many with larger than 6 inch drivers. And even speakers
with no cones (planars).
# of drivers doesn't necessarily make a speaker better. Check out the
bose 901's if you're not convinced.
I'll also note that I always considered the LS90 to be boomy/undefined
in bass, but that may very well be the two stores I listened to them in
or the electronics used with them rather than the speakers themselves.
(though the electronics sounded fine for a pair of NHT 2.5's...)

How the speaker sounds is more important than what is in it. The overall
construction techniques and the quality of the drivers is far more important
than how many and what size drivers there are. I have not heard either of the
models discussed here, but suspect that the KEF would be the better sounding
speaker.

Right on, Ben!
Polks, like Bose, never sounded good!
