Looking to purchase one of these int. amps in the near future. For a
small room and the $100 difference, is it worth going with the 314 over
the 312?

Thanks,
WSR
BTW, I've read Corey Greenberg's article in Audio about the 314/512
setup, but I'm wondering if the 312 sounds as good as the 314 with less
power.

The 314 is a step up, not only in power but in overall sound quality.
Whether it's worth the $100 for the improvement is up to you. I'd say,
as a *very* rough guide, that if your speakers are going to be more than
$300-400 a pair then you should probably go for the 314 to do them justice.

Actually, I read an interesting article that recommends two 310's in a
biamp setup over a single 314 (same price total). If your speakers are
biampable, this is probably the best way to go.

William:

I've had my 314 5 months now and am extremely pleased with the sound
through my older 5325 cd player and Paradigm Titan speakers in my
home office (10 x 10' room). I only have to turn the volume knob
barely to fill my room with enough volume!

So to answer your question, you could get by with the 312 in a
small room but it wouldn't sound as good.

Also, it's nice to have a backup amp in case your main system goes
down......as mine did 2 months ago and the 314 filled in wonderfully
for my 11' x 22' living room with high ceilings.

GO FOR THE 314!

Hell, go for the 317. More power than you know what to do with.

I have thought I might like to use this amp with a pair of B&W 805s. What
speakers do you use yours with? Also, I am having a hard time finding a
salesperson who will sell this to me without trying either to get me to
buy something more expensive or to shame me out of wanting...gasp! an
integrated amp. Is there something wrong with the 317? with integrateds?
