The belt looks OK. Spindle is lubed.
Any ideas out there?
Anyone know where I can have it serviced in the USA?
Thanks in advance!

In the 1980's I used to work for the company that was the North American
distributor for Systemdek: Pro-Acoustics, Inc. I think I can offer a few
helpful comments:
1. The bearing in the Systemdeks used a spiral groove to "pump" oil to the
top and then let it flow back down to the bottom of the bearing well. It is
important to use the correct oil in these bearings and to have enough oil in
the bearing. The oil to use is Hypoid 90. I am trying to recall the amount
of oil that would come packed in the deck in a plastic syringe: I think it
was between 3cc-5cc. In any case, overfilling the bearing just makes a small
mess, underfilling the bearing makes for rumble and wear.
2. The hum may be related to a motor problem rather than a belt or bearing
problem. Take the platter off and the belt and turn on the deck to make the
motor spin without a load: does the hum continue? Touch the pulley lightly
to simulate a load: does the hum continue?
3. Systemdek was owned by Peter Dunlop in Ayshire, Scotland. It was a family
business with his sons involved in the company. Today, his sons have a
loudspeaker company called ART Loudspeakers. You can visit their web site
at: http://www.loudspeaker-art.com/index.htm. Derek Dunlop, Peter's son, is
likely a good source for advice on the Systemdek.
4. Systemdek was sold to another firm that continues to offer parts and
modifications for this deck. Unfortunately, the name of that firm slips my
mind at the moment - sorry. Maybe Derek Dunlop can help with that too.
I hope this is helpful. Good luck!
Cheers, Danny
