There seem to be a lot of folks out there who are still unaware and
confused by who is VTL and who is Manley Labs. I hope to explain so
evryone is brought up to date.

The Cast: I am EveAnna Manley, wife of David Manley, VP of Manley Labs.
David Manley is the designer of VTL and Manley products. David is the
owner of Manley Laboratories, Inc.
Luke Manley is David's son and owner of Vacuum Tube Logic.

David founded VTL in England in the early '80's. The company was brought
to California after a short time where it has been ever since
manufacturing wonderful vacuum tube amplifiers and preamps sold all over
the world.
Luke joined David at VTL when the company was first brought to the USA
and played an instrumental role in starting up the new VTL brand.

Sometime several years later the MANLEY hi-fi brand was launched. Products
bearing the flagship Manley name were mostly sold overseas although quite
a few pieces remained here in America. Soon after that, stemming from
David's personal background in the recording industry, all-tube professional
recording equipment bearing the Manley brand-name were introduced:
microphone preamplifiers, equalizers, limiters, and later even
microphones.

So, with all this recording and playback equipment, David's personal love
of recording launched an audiophile all-tube live-to-2-track record
label, ViTaL music.
For solid-state products, a famous American brand name was acquired,
Langevin.

(I came into this scene in 1989, working at VTL. David and I were married
in 1990.)

So with all of this going on, a factory producing VTL, MANLEY, and
Langevin products
for homes and studios, the record label, the birth of the KT90.... things
were growing pretty BIG!

The time came for something to happen. Luke had his own ideas of where he
would like VTL to go, David had others. A solution became evident for
Luke to fully take over the reins of VTL and for David to begin a new
corporation, Manley Labs. In April 1993, this happened. Luke bought VTL
from David. David bought a building nearby and moved a recently acquired
CNC machine-shop, PCB facility, the ViTaLrecord label and Manley and
Langevin production into the new Manley Laboratories, Inc. 12,000 sq.ft.
factory.

Manley Labs continues as its own entirely separate entity from VTL.
Manley Labs and VTL are now totally different corporations with entirely
different models. (We have worked very hard this year coming up with new
designs for Manley products to increase the distinction from VTL.)

Manley Labs sells its hi-fi products factory-direct while its
professional studio products can be purchased either factory-direct or from
several selected professional dealers.

VTL sells its hi-fi products only through their dealers.

Both Manley and VTL have distributors worldwide for their products.

Service and questions regarding VTL products should be directed to VTL.
Scott Nowak is VTL's customer liason at the VTL factory. VTL's telephone
number is (909) 627-5944. VTL's fax number is (909) 627-6988.

Service and questions regarding Manley or Langevin products should be
directed to me or David at Manley Labs. Manley Labs telephone number is
(909) 627-4256. Manley Labs fax number is (909) 628-2482. My email
address, (which I check at night from home) is ema...@netcom.com

I hope this posting helps explain who is who and what is what with VTL
and Manley. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Sincerely, --------EveAnna Manley
